Netwon would have seen most modern physics as witchcraft. Not that that would be a problem. He firmly believed in the occult, fortune telling from chicken guts and astrology.

One of the coolest moments of my life was when I was driving along West Lake Blvd in Seattle and I saw a guy in a wheelchair rolling along the sidewalk, flanked by two women. I did a double-take as I drove by because something seemed so familiar about the guy. A half-minute later I suddenly said, "Holy shit, that was Stephen Hawking!" He was in town to give a talk and was staying nearby.

I wish now I'd gone back and taken a photo, but on the other hand, he probably enjoyed not being bugged while he was looking at the lake.
