Love the clarity of the voice in either high or low register. Very Kate Bush-like on the higher end, just less manic sounding.

One of the other Happy Rhodes videos I've posted shows off her range even better. She covers the Queen song "Lily of the Valley" and she accidentially left the capo on her guitar from the previous song. So she starts singing a full step higher than intended.

Happy is brilliant and unique, but please...all the other female singers mentioned on this thread are *also* brilliant and talented (especially Kate Bush - my nick is a rubic). This is not the world of "Highlander", and there can be more than one. The record industry has shortchanged women for years with the belief that "we already have a girl singer on the label" (never mind that they have a few dozen nearly identical male-fronted bands).

Thanks to all the people who voted on this and thank you buggytobenot for posting this here. I'm k8_fan's wife and a long-time Happy Rhodes fan. I love it when new people discover her amazing talent, especially since she's not making music anymore (her last album was 8 years ago). I maintain her MySpace page, and I also maintain a song sample site at http://wretchawry.com/happy/samples. Btw, Happy Rhodes is her real name. She lives on a farm in upstate New York and has a day job now.

I don't think the ones on the site above are any higher resolution, but they are more easily accessible than ripping from YouTube. I won't be back home for another couple of weeks, but when I do I can make some stuff in full resolution. All the videos except the one in this thread and one other have been shot by me, so *I'm* OK with it.
