Courtesy of Rock, Paper, Shotgun, an interesting find: the creation of a mod (modification) to HL which allows you to turn the First Person Shooter game into a Real Time Strategy game (i.e., instead of running around and fighting solo, you're the commander of small armies).
The article linked to above is probably more interesting than the video, but this video itself is siftworthy simply because it shows the actual HalfLife2 engine being used to show a powerful Strider fighting off some opponents.
This is similar to the effort to create an RTS out of the Halo FPS franchise - called Halo Wars, of course - except for the much smaller budget at work here.
The video is 'early' footage in the sense that only two levels of the mod have been created so far. You can, however, go ahead and download the current version now: http://hl2wars.moddb.com/
