Man, Kirsten Flagstad and Lauritz Melchior, are the gods of Wagnerian opera.....Melchior was a heavy cigar smoker as well......got a great disc with just their duets.....

There is a hot discussion on the YouTube re: Ms Flagstad's acting ability and if her smiles were appropriate to the scene depicted, etcetera. I think she's awesome and in my ignorance don't really care!
