Title says it all.

Pulling a gun on somebody and waving it in their face while taunting them, unbelievable. That is so weak. I wonder if it was a real/loaded gun. I wonder what the aftermath of this was.

vairetubesays...

I saw this earlier on liveleak and I thought, "great... another unsatisfying punk showdown"

... and then, by the end i was actually saying "Kill him! Kill him!" and making little punching motions. Those guys came out the total victors by not being more vicious than necessary in return for being threatened with murder...

they managed to satisfy my virtual bloodlust so well, i felt like they were listening to me!: Tide turns and brawl ensues (check), Skateboard comes into play as weapon (check), total face smashing ownage (check)

i need to get out more. i think ill go to the city this weekend.

Security dude showed up there, it looked like.. hopefully he was arrested. (And only him)

Draxsays...

There's a loud clack just before everyone rushes to the scene. I'm not sure if it was the gun or not, but it seems to happen in the moment just before everyone gets stirred up.

LordOderussays...

I guess that guy never saw the movie KIDS. You never mess with skateboarders. They all carry bludgeoning weapons and they travel in packs.

Glad the guy got a good group ass kicking though. He definitely had it coming. Anyone know if there were any arrests or anything regarding this video?

JiggaJonsonsays...

While hand-to-hand combat is not something I find appealing in general, or "fighting" videos on the internet for that matter, this was well deserved and I was rooting for the skaters.

The only unfortunate thing about this is our gun carrier in this situation probably still feels like he needs to be vindicated for his would-be bad-assiness. Only next time he'll probably either be more careful or actually pull the trigger. :-(

videosiftbannedmesays...

It's like the father in Friday said, kids are too scared nowadays to get an ass-whoopin'. They need a gun so they can feel superior. I'm glad the piece of shit got taught a lesson, but as JiggaJohson pointed out, I'm sure the next kid won't be so lucky, going up against an already bruised ego.

Typical low life, scum bag, dreg of society, worthless P.O.S. cholo! Too bad the skateboarders didn't pop him in his lazy arse, then he couldn't think anymore. ALL the skateboarders should have joined in and beat that turd to a pulp. I hope the cops were called. Hey, that arsehole PULLED A GUN on those kids!!! No sympathy for scummy cholo here. What's with that older man breaking up the fight anyway? He should have joined in beating up that turd. I was raised in E.L.A. and that is why I feel the way that I do. Way to go skateboarders!!!!!!! And as for any cholo sympathizers writing in, wait until they infest a neighborhood near you! You'll probably want to kill them yourselves!

cherokeebreed4says...

And...IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE "CLACK" WAS WHEN IT FIRST BEGAN! The rotten cholo pulled the gun (squirt gun?) on the skateboarder. The skateboarder had EVERY RIGHT to beat the shit out of that scumbag. Too bad he didn't take the gun and shoot homey in the head. It wouldn't have mattered though. It's obvious that homey doesn't have any brains in his head anyway. It only would have done minimal damage, and homey would have been in a wheelchair the rest of his life collecting S.S. That's the cholos' badge of pride. Cholos are disgusting cockroaches who should all be terminated with a giant can of RAID then squashed underfoot.

Nice Racism, banned.

xxovercastxxsays...

Went back and forth on this one as I'm not really a fan of violence, but ultimately I think this guy more than earned his beating. Not only was he way out of line but he was given plenty of time to reconsider his actions before getting stomped. The skater actively tries to avoid him for the better part of a minute.

lucky760says...

I'm very glad that that literal piece of crap got that beating and hope very much he was arrested and put away for a long time. Someone who is that quick to pull a gun will sooner than later also become quick to pull the trigger. Far too many innocent people get killed because some lowlife wants to prove to himself how tough he is.

P.S. Cholo is not a race.

I agree - anything could have happened there to make this happen. Kind of hard for me to root with one side.

cherokeebreed4 - that better be sarcasm. If so, you are not doing it right. If not, get your head checked.

Very unlikely.. The two hostile youths seemed to be just going along, down the street, when they noticed the skaters. Maybe one of the skaters said something, who knows.. but what followed was certainly unwarranted. I highly doubt they knew each other before this.

1. cholo 3387 up, 464 down

A cholo is term implying a Hispanic male that typically dresses in chinos (khahki pants), a wifebeater sleeveless teeshirt or a flannel shirt with only the top buttoned, a hairnet, or with a bandana around the forehead, usually halfway down over the eyes. Cholos often have black ink tattoos, commonly involving Catholic imagery, or calligraphy messages or family names.

Cholos often drive low riders.

A farcical example of a cholo from the movies is Cheech, from Cheech and Chong.

At least his use of the term was accurate.. so is calling a white southerner a 'redneck' racist?

gwiz665says...

Racism is not only about race anymore is my observation. The word has been altered to also include all sorts of hate-speech against any one group of people, blacks, cholos, catholics etc. People who cling to the fact that any give insult is not racism because it's not about race, are often the ones making the insults.

No, It's classist. And it's offensive to some people as it's a term that denotes poverty more than anything else.

Cholo is definitely a racist term but like everything else, it needs context. I fully believe that in the context used above by "cherokee", yes, it was racist.

Someone once told me that you should never pull a gun unless you're going to use it. I'm going to remember that.

Draxsays...

Another interesting bit, what seems to get the skater throwing punches is when the gunman starts pointing the gun at the kid behind him as he's saying, "That your brutha'? (brother) Huh? That your brutha'?". Threatening someone else with the gun seems to be what causes the skater to snap.

edit- watching it again, actually he grabs the guy's wrist while the gun's no longer pointing at him. It's probably "do or die" at the point at not giving up control of the gun.

jeez, I gotta keep up with all these ism's and ist's.. everything is something or another these days. can you explain how redneck is classist, while cholo is racist? if it's obvious, i apologize as i asm severely stoned but would appreciate an explanation anyhow.

Ryjkyjsays...

"Cholo" is racist in the context above. (And again, that's just my opinion.) Plenty of other people might not be offended at the word itself. My Mexican roommate uses it all the time.

When you really think about it, almost all of the racist slurs you can think of have more to do with class at their hearts.

"Rednecks" is primarily a term used to describe poor white people. Although it can apply to any race, the root of the term is basically: "the ones who work outside".

Anyway, try not to focus on the "-isms" too much or your head will explode.

videosiftbannedmesays...

I'll jump back in for the cholo/redneck debate. I believe that they are just words; it's up to the person hearing them to make the distinction. I've known cholos that were proud to be cholos; they embraced it as it gave them identity. Same with calling a someone who's good at computers a geek. Or rednecks who say "Damn right!". To some it would be offensive - to others, it's a badge of honor, or lends them credence. It's all in the context in which it is taken, not delivered.

But that's just my two cents, ya geeks.

lucky760says...

Cholos are a certain type of gang member, usually associated with but not limited to male Hispanics. I knew lots of white, black, Asian, and female "cholos" in my youth.

IMHO, it's acceptable to wish ill against a class of people if that class is specifically grouped together based on their willingness to commit crimes and injury against innocent people and not based on their ethnicity or gender.

You may strongly disagree with cherokee's passionate sentiment and that's completely fine, but it's not necessarily race that's fueling their fire. Anyway, that's just this reporter's opinion.

Did anyone else hear this a couple of times in a strange "I am so toasted right now" tone? Made me laugh! LOL! (see!) I think it was the kamera kid. He said it when kid #2 pulled off a "trick" and then again (in the exact same tone, sounded like a sample was used, lol) when the fight was almost finished... I found it funny anyway, listen for it.

Yay.

JiggaJonsonsays...

On the racism discussion going on up there ^ ^
It's more about the context, anything can be used to describe something in a derogatory way. Being a fan of language in general I must admit that im a little jealous of african americans just because they get to use the word 'nigger' and i dont think i'd ever be able to use it in any social situation where it wasnt taken the wrong way (im not a racist just a linguist)

Now in the case of the word 'cholo' above, he's using it in a defamatory sense. In spite of the accuracy uncovered in the urban dictionary, that word usage is probably meant to devalue the man holding the gun in the video (based on the context).

Creaturesays...

I watched this the first time a few minutes (and a tall boy) after being locked in a mini-mart after a shooting. As much as I abhor violence. I think those kids needed to take down the one with the gun before things got even more out of hand. You've got a better chance after being beaten not shot.

Back to the Racism debate.....

Before you say yes or not to this you have to ask yourself what defines race. Is it skin color, religion ethnicity or what else? If a Chinese-American began slinging the word Redneck around then it would most definitely be a racist use of the word. You also have to to remember that technically the definition (in short form) of a redneck is a poor WHITE southerner. WHITE/caucasian is a core element of the definition and therefore the epithet Redneck is based on race and a derogatory use of it would have to be, in some applications at least, racist. Your statement Ryjkyj that Redneck is classist merely shows that you are most likely from the white middle-class (thats not an insult or anything just an observation). otherwise you would think differently of the word.

In the same sense the word nigger isn't solely based on race either. There are numerous elements that go into making the word including elements of class. The connotationsthat comes along with using the word in a derogatory sense encompass multiple elements inclouding those of class just the same as the word Redneck.

Ryj, you also said:

'"Rednecks" is primarily a term used to describe poor white people. Although it can apply to any race, the root of the term is basically: "the ones who work outside".'

How is the root of the word redneck, "those who work outside?" Are you trying to say that the word reflects the creation of the "other" within society by those in power or the majority? If so it isnt necessarily "those who work outside" but instead it would be those who dont fit into the established norm (whatever that might be) and in this sense the word redneck or any other potentially racist term would reflect attempts at assimiliation by society or instead attempts at identifying and establishing distance to those who dont fit.

dirtythirtyixsays...

This reminds me of what Pops said in the movie Friday:

"Oh, no, son. That's not the way it is. You kids have been nothin' but punks. Sissified. So quick to pick up a gun. Too scared to take an ass-whipping. [Raises his fists] This is what makes you a man. When I was growing up, this was all the protection we needed. You win some, you lose some. But you live, you live to fight another day! Now you think you're a man with a gun in your hands, don't you?"

Word. Guns are for pussies.

Ryjkyjsays...

Confucius, everything is subjective. I just wanted to say that in my opinion, the original statement by cherokee was racist.

I understand that there are racist connotations to "redneck" (that's why I said as much in my last comment) but in my opinion it has way more to do with class.

As to the root of the word, I was just talking about the literal term and what it means. One who works outside...

In the sun...

And gets sunburned...

On their neck...

Cause' they work outside...

In the sun.

Regarding the racism debate.

Cholo is not a racist term. The poster's message was hate-filled but contained no derogatory terms.. just derogatory statements. The words Dirty and Mexican are not racist, but if one were to say "Dirty Mexican!" it becomes a borderline racist statement.

I don't care what internet site defines the world "Cholo" as. I'm born and raised in Los Angeles and Cholo is a term used meaning a Hispanic Gangster or Thug. It has nothing to do with cars or clothes, though typically Hispanic Gang Culture does gravitate towards certain cars and clothing styles.

The kid with the gun and his friend are Cholo's. Little Gangsters or Thugs. It's evident to anyone who has been around that culture by their style of dress and even the way he holds the gun.

EndAllsays...

The root of the word is no longer relevant these days, though, Ryjkyj - I work outside, in the sun, but no one would ever consider me a redneck. As for the word 'nigger' - I often hear white males explain their use of the word by saying "I don't think ALL black people are niggers, I think of black people and niggers as two different things. Gangster black guys are niggers, and then there are just normal black guys." Or something along those lines.. Has anyone else encountered this logic?
