Guy Assaults Police Officer on Bridge - Gets Shot (nt shown)

Police fatally shot a man (not shown) on Centennial Bridge in Davenport after the man allegedly bit an officer's face and slammed his head to the pavement.

He said the officer was looking for a suspect and found a person on the bridge who matched the description a few minutes later.

When the officer approached, Struckman said, the man became belligerent and attacked.

The officer tried to use a Taser gun to subdue the man, but it was ineffective and he "got on top of the officer and tried to choke him."

"He actually bit him in the face and was choking him and slammed his head on the pavement," Struckman said.
