Glenn Beck: Obama is Racist, Hates White People

rychansays...

So asinine. Let me count the ways:
1) Obama is half white, raised entirely by a single white mother and her white, middle American parents.
2) It surely wasn't diplomatic to say the cop "acted stupidly", but cops that act "smartly" don't get their arrests dismissed by the DA's office. Yet people still argue that the cop was in the right. He unequivocally was not. He was absolutely in the wrong to arrest Gates for "disorderly conduct".
3) Glenn Beck is telling this to a guy who just two weeks ago said that that Americans are medically distinct from Scandinavians because we lack their pure blood.
4) THAT GUY is telling Glenn Beck that Obama's inner circle is entirely white people.
5) Glenn Beck is pretty hypocritical because of the general "us vs them" sentiment he helped stir up in the last year.

Hard as it may be to believe, what Glen Beck says is much worse than it even sounds. He's not just calling Obama a racist, but he because of who he is and because he is saying it on Fox there is a large population of folks in the deep south that will actually take him seriously. I just got back from the Alabama region, and the hate for Obama from many is beyond irrational. A great many people take anything, and I mean anything, Fox has to say against Obama at face value and accept it without question.

I might have previously though having Biden as VP would be enough for all but the nuttiest people to laugh Glen Beck's comments here off. Sadly I am just not convinced of that any longer.

^ From a good article on DKos about this very topic:

When Glenn Beck says — almost in the same breath — that President Obama "hates white people" and then, "I never said he doesn’t LIKE white people," and your head does NOT explode, it’s because — as a Fox News viewer — you AGREE with this unresolvable dichotomy. If you DON’T agree with it, it’s because you’re brainwashed by the liberal MSM and can’t think for yourself — like Limbaugh tells them THEY can.

That pretty much sums it up nicely. It's that Orwellian dream -- people so dedicated to the cause that they will accept self-contradictory statements, and defend them to the death, or blame any disquiet on the enemy.

Seriously, the word bellyfeel needs to enter mainstream discourse, pronto.

^ Your supposed irony seems to hinge on the belief that Beck is right, or has some sort of valid point.

Neither are true.

My point isn't that it's impossible for minorities to level racial prejudice against whites, just to point out that a party that has spent the last 3 decades riding into power on the back of racial backlash seems to have decided that the key racial issue in America in 2009 is that our black President, and latina Supreme Court Justice are grinding white people under their heels.

Never mind that in the underlying case we're talking about, the white police officer violated the 4th amendment, and made an unjust arrest (at least, according to Fox News).

vairetubesays...

You just have to deduce and follow from Beck's reasoning:

Beck !=anti-black
Beck !=anti-white
So it follows
Beck = pro-human race
-------------------------------------------------
Obama !=pro-white
Obama !=anti-black
So it follows
Obama =anti-white
Obama =pro-black
and thus
Obama = a racist

Its simple logic. You can clearly follow it to the conclusion:

Obama is a racist... because Obama is not.

I can't believe it doesnt make sense to everyone.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

Crudely put, exaggerated, and using loaded language - but I think the fundamental analysis is sound. Obama is a racist. A black racist, and he holds many racist views and opinions about white people. It's sad to say, you can't examine his words and his record without arriving at this conclusion. The man is uncomfortable around white people and holds many prejudices against them. That's racism.

Look at how he treated the whole Beergate issue. He blatantly admitted that he "didn't know the facts", but went ahead and made the assumption that the white police officer "acted stupidly". Well, thanks to a smart police officer we know that's total bullcrap. Gates was belligerent, offensive, insulting, and WAY out of line and it was all on tape. The officer did everything by the book, and was more than forbearing with the obviously racist Mr. Gates who routinely refused to cooperate with simple, common sense requests just because he was dealing with a white cop (who happened to be an expert on racial profiling).

So Obama weighs in without any facts and ASSUMED that this was all the officers fault for no reason except that in his racist brain "White cop + black citizen = white person bad". Well it all blew up in his face because when you make a STUPID RACIST ASSUMPTION based on your negative prejudices then it doesn't hold up. The facts proved that not only was Crowley right, but that Gates was a class-A jackass racist.

So what does Obama do? Does he apologize to the cops that he maligned and insulted. Nope. He has the cheek and gall to go out and say how he 'regrets that people mis-interpreted his comments". He doesn't even have the guts to admit when he's wrong because in his racist mind he thinks he's RIGHT. He's such a racist that he can't even bring himself to admit that Gates was totally 100% wrong in how he handled himself, and that Crowley was 100% right. Instead he clings to his prejudices and his biases and pretends that the cop still could have handled things better. That's RACISM.

So's crap like saying his own grandma is a 'typical white person'. So's going to Reverend Wright's little race palace for 20 years and not walking out when he rails against all the whiteys. So's writing a freaking BOOK called "A story of RACE and inheritance" in which he talks about the 'act' he puts on around white people.

Face facts folks. Glenn Beck isn't exactly very eloquent about it, and he tries to make it sound worse than it probably is, but when you get right down to it his basic accusation is correct. Obama is a racist who holds a TON of prejudices against white people. It's as plain as a Bulgarian pin-up. It doesn't mean Obama 'hates' white people. It just means that when he bumps into a white person that the little wheels in his brain paint a picture of that white guy which is colored with the palate of his biases. The result is that he 'treats' that person as if they're the "white man" caracature he's created in is brain. It doesn't mean he's going to joing the Blu Blax Blan or torch whitey homes. But when he's faced with a situation like the Gates/Crowley fiasco you better believe it makes him side with the jackasses like Gates 100% of the time for no reason except the other guy is white.

And that's sad. Pathetic and sad. I like to hope that intelligent people have more sense than that. But I have to shake my head and reluctantly conclude based on the preponderance of evidence (Obama's actions & words) that our President is a small, petty, prejudiced man.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

No - a very calm, rational, unbiased look at Obama's words & deeds. I'm not 'defending' Beck. He puts things poorly, exaggerates, and has biases of his own. But I'm not defending Obama either. It is plain as day that Obama's reaction to Beergate was racially oriented. I'm open to an explanation about how Obama's words can be interpreted in any other way except as his personal prejudice in favor of a black man over a white cop.

This is a great video that puts its finger right on the heart of the matter. Time frame 3:03 onward. "What do we learn from this video?" asks the PC sensitivity trainer. Answers, "Yes - that only white people can be racist." Brilliant. You guys are the sensitivity trainer. You go around slavishly obeying the PC mantra that black people can't be racists. Well, guys like Reverent Wright, Jesse Jackson, Professor Gates, and Barak Obama prove you wrong.

Winstonfield... Obama is the president of the United States. That office doesn't really come with a lot of humility. What do you think would happen if he came out and said he was wrong? It would be a rallying cry to all his opponents no matter how it was phrased. It's patently unrealistic to expect any head of state to apologize to the public over a (relatively though not necessarily) small matter. By saying he was sorry for the way people interpreted his comments he at least admitted he fecked up by commenting the way he did and I think that's the best you can hope for.

Is he racist? I've seen a lot more videos of innocent black guys getting the shit kicked out of them by ignorant cops and complaining about it afterwards than I have of guilty black guys getting the shit kicked out of them by cops and complaining about it afterwards. In my experience if the guy complains and it becomes a big story it's more likely the dude was innocent. I'm not racist against white people. Though maybe that's what the self harm was about... Oh wait, no, I see what I did there! I hurt myself so I'm racist? No! I hurt myself cos I'm myself! Just like maybe Obama came down on the cop because he wants to reach out to the lower classes of society who think they're trodden on by the police?

He came down on the cop. THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE'S RACIST!!!!! It could mean a goddamn plethora of different things!!!! Ockham's razor is not always the answer and it is always worthwhile remembering your own biases before you insult anyone in a public forum.

P.S. Could people please stop upvoting this kind of bollocks? Seriously, 50 people think that this is worth watching? Why? I'm pretty sure everyone knows this kind of one-sided rhetoric exists already, people choose not to watch it on tv. Is it more intersting to watching on the net somehow? It still ain't funny anyway.

Though... there's always the banter .

Actually, lately, we keep having to say that minorities expressing concern over perceived racist behavior does not itself constitute racist behavior.

To put it more plainly, it is quite possible to inadvertently cause offense with poorly chosen words or deeds. That doesn't necessarily make the offender some sort of bigot, but it absolutely, unequivocally does not follow that the offended person is a bigot because they took offense.

You guys seem to think tossing the word "racist" at minorities will make you appear that to be more color-blind than other people. But to people who understand that the trick to improving race relations is sensitivity to other people's feelings, it comes across as an obvious and disgusting ploy to give a wink and nod to racists, while trying to appear enlightened to people who're stupid enough not to see through you.

Obama doesn't need to apologize for saying he thought the police acted stupidly for arresting his friend in his own home. It wasn't the most politically wise thing for him to express that opinion in a public setting like that, but I think what he said was fairly delicate despite the use of the word "stupidly". He went out of his way to say he didn't know the facts, and that he doesn't know whether race played a role, but then recounted his own experience that race can factor into these sorts of situations.

To demand he couch it any more delicately would be to demand he stand silent about any issue where he sees even the slightest bit of racial discrimination, and that seems like the wrong thing to push for, esepecially if your concern is really improving race relations instead of just looking to score political points.

I didn’t accept that kind of logic when Bush was the screw up, and I don’t accept it from Obama. You can’t fly off the handle over rumors and get a free pass because you’re President. The bigger, better man is the one that takes the responsibility and consequences that come with owning up to mistakes and letting the chips fall where they may.

He came down on the cop. THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE'S RACIST!

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2009/0723092gates1.html

Gates has no leg to stand on. There were multiple eye witnesses, an open radio recording of the whole incident, and two other officers (1 black 1 hispanic) who agree that Gates was being offensive and disorderly. Gates was the one that dragged race into this.

The very KINDEST interpretation is that Obama was racist ‘in favor’ of Gates. Why Obama say the police ‘acted stupidly’ when he already admitted he knew NOTHING about the circumstances? Simple. (1) Gates is black and (2) the police arrested him. For a guy like Obama who looks at things through a prism of race, that’s all he needed to know.

Maybe you aren’t willing to admit that Obama also has NEGATIVE prejudices against white people. Fine. But it is inarguable that Obama is willing to give some people a free pass from responsibility because of their color. That’s still racism in my book.

The trick to improving race relations is sensitivity to other people's feelings

Here’s a great video showing EXACTLY how Gates could have just defused this whole situation very easily and simply. Gates violated rules #2 (use common sense) and #5 (be polite). I’d say he also violated #6 (stay away from crazy friends) except that HE was the crazy one.

If Gates had just said, “Yes officer, here’s my ID. Sorry you got called out here for nothing,” then everything would have been just fine. No arrest. Everyone’s happy. But no, he has to throw a fit, insult the officer, and become disorderly.

It seems to me that the way to improve race relations here is for Gates to keep his ‘feelings’ to himself because his feelings made him into a freaking idiot. The officer never did a single thing to warrant being called a racist except to show up at the door. But to the racist idiot Gates, "white cop at my door" automatically means "I'm being persecuted because I'm black!". And the racist President Obama agrees with him.
