Admittedly, I only watched this rundown and not the entire race, still I never thought I'd catch myself saying this: I was actually glued to my seat watching this race. That was thrilling and I really feel happy for her.

Definitely not the first in pro racing history. (See NHRA dragracer Angele Sampey for a prime example). She's not even actually the first woman to be successful in open wheel racing. What she IS, however, is the major shot in the arm that IRL needs to get popular again. Ironically, it's going to take a chick for IRL to get its balls back.

IRL should merge with Champcar and get it over with!

Small note from us racing fans, In IRL the rules have it so that the car's weight limit is measured without the driver in it. So Danika gets a nice edge since she's got some of those guys by 30lbs or more.

Actually, IRL's recent rule change inlcudes the drivers for the car's minimum weight. And Danica criticized it, go figure!

I was in the stands at the Indianapolis 500 in 2005 when she almost won the race with a few laps to go, but Dan Wheldon pulled though and won it. I'm very glad to see her get her first win.

Am I the only one who finds the champagne-spraying-in-the-face a but lewd given the mixed-gender podium? Not that I mind a bit of lewdness mind you; I just never thought of it that way before.
