This is how a talentless hack singer tries to sound like they can sing, by doing all sorts of shit with the song. A good singer can sing a song straight, no extra flourishes, and leave everyone gobsmacked with the quality of their voice.

A no talent 'singer' like her (who I don't know from a bar of soap as we don't know her in Australia and hopefully never will), is just trying to disguise that they can't hold a single note for any length of time.

Also, word on the street is that a couple seconds after she finished, the Eagles came out of their tunnel.
Seriously though, it's difficult to do, and i've definitely heard worse performances on live tv.

I disagree with the personal interpretation... What could be more american?... THIS on the other hand... That was rough to watch... I looked around the room at everyones faces... and we were all just wincing...

Having said that... I can't sing for beans... and it strikes me as a difficult song to TRULY sing... I won't judge her to hard... I think her mistakes are more from trying TO hard, and i like to think we can still forgive that in this country.
