I wonder if the mere fact she fell asleep while getting a tattoo qualifies this as a fail...

Seriously...

Sounds like she was drugged up on something, passed out after requesting something that sounded like a good idea at the time and then had a major case of buyer's remorse...

Edit: I mean, think of it from the tattoo artist's perspective... when someone asks for a tattoo on their face, that's pretty serious. No way are you going to give someone MORE tattoos on their face than they requested.

I dunno... did you see that tattoo artist? I think he could have a skewed version of what's extreme/too much when it comes to facial mods.

^ You'd think so, but you wouldn't expect tattoo artists to tattoo derogatory phrases in Chinese characters either, but how many stories have we all heard about people thinking they got "love" tattooed on their arm only to find out they actually have "slut" permanently etched into their skin.

Getting a tattoo that says "My abusive husband pimps me out" is a particularly wonderful example.

I'm sorry but she fell asleep? While getting tattooed on the face?? Bullshit. Buyer's remorse, plain and simple.

Buyer's remorse. Stop crying and be more awesome... maybe some more stars could help.

Incidentally, I thought facial tattoos were illegal mostly everywhere?

I call bullshit. I read about this on yahoo news earlier, she says these permanent scars are now etched onto her face so she's filing an action for £8000 or equivalent. So i've had my face ruined and all i want is £8000.

Tattooist said he knew exactly what she wanted, said she went home happy with it. I read her father and boyfriend threatened to disown her whereupon she suddenly changed her story? Sounds believable to me.

More likely than a tattoo artist intentional tattooing 56 stars onto someone's face who only wanted 3, knowing that he'd lose his job/reputation/get fined/shut down/potentially jailed(?)

It's illegal in Hawaii, but that's about it. In Georgia it's illegal to tattoo within one inch of the eyes. There are some other states that have restrictions on who can put the tattoos on your face, but it isn't illegal to have them.

Maybe there are some countries where it is illegal, but I didn't find much about it.

1: Most tattoo artists are smart enough to avoid tattooing exposed areas to avoid situations just like this. It's standard practice in the industry to avoid face and hands at all costs. I know a lot of tattoo artists and only the dirtbags would do something like this without getting to know a person and making them spend a few hundred dollars on other tattoos before moving on to the exposed areas. This guy made his own mess and deserves whatever he gets. And what about written consent? It doesn't help his case that he didn't even get her to sign something.

2: Tattoos are NOT permanent anymore. Sure, they'll be there for a while at least but the surgery to remove them is pretty easy. I've even heard of a non-surgical product called "Wrecking Balm" that will remove the ink with a few months of application.

3: Both of these people are idiots.

1: I'll agree on all points

2: Just because you get rid of the ink doesn't mean you've gotten rid of the scars. Tattooing skin damages the top few layers, usually creating permanent scarring. She'll still have star-shaped scars if she has them removed. Still, I don't think she's going to win her case.

3: Again, agreed.

Do you also send out emails concerning penis enlargement?

Because.. tattoo removal is not easy, and it will definitely leave a scar. Laser or light therapy are really the only effective methods.

Her's are new, so the scar tissue is pretty newly formed, so she might have minimal damage.

A quick googling of 'Wrecking Balm' only lead to paid reccomendations, ads or somewhat bad reviews. It only seems to fade the tattoo slightly.

I think it's an improvement.. plus, just ask any DS9 fans.. those are close enough to trill spots for me, nomesayin?

everybody winner today

ps. as been observed, no tattoo artist who works in a shop would do this and risk everything... and then talk about it on the news. he clearly has a picture of her, AWAKE, POSED, with the tattoos. Not looking mad, either.

then again, tattooing is the kind of skill you can take with you on the lam.

Well, the artist tattooed the shape of the number three on her face. Could it have been a very unfortunate misunderstanding?

"I want three stars on my face."

"I want a three in stars on my face."

To me it sounds like she was drunk as shit at the time. That would explain everything. The falling asleep, the alleged forgetfulness about what she asked for, and the desire to get stars tattooed on her face.

When I first heard about this, I thought it would be totally fake. But after Dutch and Belgian media have been calling it fake more and more, it now seems it's actually real (the tattoos anyway, the girl's story can still be doubted)...

Inappropriate channel assignment, methinks.
You'll notice the theme of the channel, though not the title, is more around the area of questionable action on the part of the government.

The size of tattoos she got would have taken a moment or two a piece (she wanted 3). There's NO way she wanted a 2-10 minute tattoo and fell asleep in the process. I don't think that much ink could possibly take more than 10 minutes, and would be surprised if each star took longer than 30 seconds (realistically prep time for the artist would have taken longer than the tattoo itself). Most people can't sleep while being worked on. The people that do often take something to help them sleep, and are going for several hour long tattoo sessions. Draw three small stars on a piece of paper. It doesn't take much longer for a good artist to work with the gun and skin.

This is total BS, and this girl may ruin the tattoo artist's career over it.

Most tattoo shops have written contracts to describe the requested tattoo and location/size for this reason.

"My God, it's full of stars..."

So tempting to just leave it at that.
It's my sincere hope that everyone involved in this is at fault.
I hope the girl was drunk and requested the face-full of stars.
I hope the tattoo artist knew she was drunk and thought it would be funny.
I hope her friends talked her into it as a prank.

I want to believe everyone's at fault, because I know everyone is absolutely regretting it.

I think it also depends on an individual's definition of "proper", which is probably different for a person who would consider 56 stars an acceptable facial decoration.
