Footage of George W. Bush in Albania. Look at 0:51, he has a watch on his left arm. Look at 0:55 as it is stolen in plain sight.

So let's think for a second, what is the story: wittle bush got his watch stolen and didn't notice?? /cry ::: or the President of the most powerful nation in the world had his watch stolen while allowing countless normal, real folks shake his hand in a huge crowd in a nation that shows TREMENDOUS support for the help of America in its search for independence and equal rights. ...just look at the intro. Come on... This nation loves our efforts on its behalf. Even in this report, despite said theft.

"An Albanian bodyguard who accompanied Bush in the town told The Associated Press he had seen one of his U.S. colleagues close to Bush bend down and pick up the watch.

The Top Channel private TV station showed how one of his bodyguards may have talked to the president and then taken the watch from his hand."

I think the guy with the real slight of hand ability must be Bush then, because I'm watching that video and I don't see him taking off his watch with one hand and slipping it in his pocket.

At 3:04, as Bush is lowering his arm, after guy was supposed to have stolen his watch, there's 1 frame that looks like the watch is still on his arm. After that he has both hands down and could be pocketing the watch. The video isn't good enough to say one way or the other.

The press secretary would have a lot to lose by saying something obviously false with no wiggle room. At least with WMD stockpiles in Iraq they can almost plausibly make the case that they were genuinely mistaken and didn't just make it all up.

But it's sheer laziness on the part of CNN to say it's conclusively "solved" merely because the president's staff claims it is. Bush has lied a lot in the past. If CNN is just going to mindlessly parrot, without an iota of investigation, the administration's chief propagandist (aka white house press secretary), It really isn't worth watching. There's no indication that the "mystery solved" reporter even checked any of the videos that Tony Snow refers to. There's way too much parroting and not enough thinking in all the TV news, except sometimes the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

It's remotely possible that Bush tried to give the impression of getting his watch stolen to give his Albanian reception psyops more circulation among those less friendly to Bush.
