I've only recently developed an interest in Anime. Berserk is my favorite series so far, watched it dubbed. Also enjoyed Cowboy Bebop.
Subbed. No question.
I can think of one series that had good English voice acting, that was Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Gis: SAC 2nd Gig.
Subbed or dubbed is just a preference. I often don't like the extreme exaggerated Japanese voices and have more difficulty in relating to them.
That's called acting, and while it may be overdone for bubbly over-happy girl type characters, it's well done most of the time, and is certainly better than 99.999999% of English dubs. Hell, the Japanese have colleges dedicated to voice acting. We have studios doing dubs on tiny budgets with a pool of 50 voice actors total in the anime dub industry, where they usually aren't even in the same room when they record. The result is predictable.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC 1 & 2
Cowboy Bebop
Fullmetal Alchemist (from memory ...)
Either way, many shows haven't been exported to english audiences or take forever, so you really don't get a choice.
Anyway, wasn't a bad show I guess, but Bokura No takes a similar concept and does it sooo much better.
