This coming from the party whose President said - quote - "We can let doctors know and your mom know that, you know what, maybe this isn't going to help. Maybe you're better off not having the surgery but taking the painkiller."

Laughably off target for Democrats to be saying this. In the first place, the Republicans don't even HAVE a 'plan' in the House or the Senate. The only plans in the House & Senate are Democrat plans of which not a single Republican has supported. But, Democrats are masters of demonizing Republicans with slander & falsehoods. Why let such a long tradition go unused? Grayson. Liar & a tool.

^That's his point, the Republicans think everything is just fine the way it is, so why improve anything.

That's the problem with Republicans, they want to maintain the status quo, regardless of the damage it continues to do.

Democrats may not have perfect solutions, but at least they admit that there's a problem.

Yes, and if I remember correctly he was talking about a 100+ year old woman and a surgery that would have likely killed her.

^Winstonfield - "We can let doctors know and your mom know that, you know what, maybe this isn't going to help. Maybe you're better off not having the surgery but taking the painkiller."

And, what if it ISN'T going to help? What if surgery really won't alleviate the problem?

Every day it looks more and more likely there will be real reform down there. Thank goodness (and Democrats).

Some GOP Rep tabled a motion demanding an apology from Grayson - he gave an apology, but not to the GOP, instead to the dead and the families of the dead who die from a lack of healthcare in the wealthiest country in the world.

Are we still the wealthiest country in the world? I really thought we dropped down at least one or two on the list.

Democrats may not have perfect solutions, but at least they admit that there's a problem.

Republicans have presented a solutions - tort reform and insurance portability. Both would be major improvements, and neither requires 1.6 trillion dollars in taxes. Twaddling that Republicans are 'not admitting there's a problem' is both inaccurate (they have) AND irrelevant (they don't run the congress).

I also reject the cowardly "chicken Little" scare tactic mentality that "we have to do...SOMETHING!" Uh - no - we rather don't - not when the only 'something' being discussed is a 1.6 trillion dollar tax. Not when the only 'something' is a federal system that socializes 30% of the economy, gives government power to control who/what/how/when/why and where you get medical care, and could easily be used to regulate what you eat, where you live, and how you die.

When doing 'something' is defined (like the Democrats have done) as doing something INCREDIBLY STUPID then 'nothing' really could be a whole lot better.

Are there issues we currently have? Sure. Let's study them. Slowly. Carefully. Let's TEST several different approaches. Let's learn what works and what doesn't. Then let's test again. And again. And again. As long as it takes and as many times as it takes to come up with a proper method that really works and that the PEOPLE want (unlike Obamacare). If this really is the most important issue of our time - then why proceed with undue haste? Just because bozos like this guy said so?

And, what if it ISN'T going to help? What if surgery really won't alleviate the problem?

Then what she decides is her, her family, & her doctor's business - not the government.

Winstonfield - I am really getting sick of this.

Insurance portability would only hurt consumers even more - look at what Credit Card companies have done out of Delaware (30% fuckin interest? Are you serious). One state would benefit economically, while the rest of the country suffered.

It's irrelevant that the Republicans have no real plan because they don't run congress? I'll bet large sums of money that if they came up with a GOOD idea - you know, one that would actually work - the Democrats would jump on it and make it pass. But they are intellectually, morally, and ideologically bankrupt, and it shows.

"Not when the only 'something' is a federal system that socializes 30% of the economy, gives government power to control who/what/how/when/why and where you get medical care, and could easily be used to regulate what you eat, where you live, and how you die."

Look at every other industrialized country on the planet - they have massive healthcare programs, and no one is deciding what people can eat, where they live, or how they die. If everyone owns guns, they COULD all murder their loved ones and then commit suicide, simultaneously killing 50% of the American people. But does it happen? No. Smarten up.

"a proper method that really works and that the PEOPLE want (unlike Obamacare)"

Holy fucking shit batman - are you nuts? The overwhelming majority of Americans want a Public Option. Don't be stupid. If you have to be, try to be quiet about it.

Winstonfield - I am really getting sick of this.

Then give up.

Insurance portability would only hurt consumers even more.

Increased competition lowers costs. Isn't that what Obama is saying? How can you agree with Obama that "increased competition will lower costs" and then say that a non-public plan designed to increase competition WON'T? Please supply the economic study that proves public programs lower private costs.

I'll bet large sums of money that if they came up with a GOOD idea - you know, one that would actually work - the Democrats would jump on it and make it pass.

I'd take that bet.

Well, for one thing the US ALREADY has a massive health care program. However, I reject "they do it so we should" justifications out of hand. European economies are inferior to the US economy. Why should we emulate European economic practices when their economic performance is demonstrably inferior?

For those whom suffer from illness and chronic condition...
For those whom suffer for a long time (beyond 2-3 weeks)...
For those whom care, for their loved ones, whom suffer...

...the concept of health care reform and a public option, is very good news.

Mr. Winston here has never suffered nor cared dearly for someone who suffers. He has no concept, no real compassion, no real heart. A body without a soul.

The public option, would mean, more competition, not less. It would mean, companies now can not charge out ragous prices for health care. Nor remove those with long term illnesses or chronic conditions. As there will be a base line option. Companies will take these people on, and provide better then a goverment option, since it brings in money.

Right now, Winston, and you can look this up to your heart's content, consider the following. As its quite scary...

What if, the top 10 health insurance companies got together, and decided....they dont like you. Yes, they agree to make your insurance cost you MORE, then it did before. Oh sure, you would try shopping around, but in the end, find they all did the same thing. They dont like the products you buy, since its not THEIR products, or kick-backs they get from other companies for doing 'business to business' transactions. You do not live, where they want you to live. Oh, and the best one. You dont vote, EXACTLY the way they want you to vote.

Yes, companies in the health care industry can do this right now. It would be up to you, to prove conspiracy on their part. After all, there are no laws requiring health care companies not to collude.

Sounds like a story of conspiracy theory when I first heard of it. The more I thought about it, the more ghastly a concept it would be to perform. BUT, some of the thoughts in the health care reform RIGHT now, would eliminate that tactic before it started. The same stuff, you are trying hard to prevent from coming to reality.

So really Winston, one SHOULD examine your agenda and motives in this area. Since the only people against health care reform, and the public option, are the ones who stand to make a fortune, holding Americans over a barrel for health coverage.

As I stated above....you have to have a soul, to have compassion.

Such blind assumptions are sadly typical of liberals who encounter valid but opposing philosophies. My wife of 14 years who survived NHL cancer would doubtless have a different point of view than yours. However, as a man of character and wit I am not offended by your ignorance. It is sad that such small-minded pettiness exists, and I correct it when I can. It is not anger or disgust that minds such as yours elicit from me. Only pity.
