Mmmh, without having seen the whole movie:

I can understand Americans being upset by paying taxes although there may be no law requiring them to do so, but: Imagine all Americans would suddenly stop paying taxes. Who would pay teachers, policemen, build roads etc.? So it certainly is an odd situation, but it isn´t like investigations of these sort could save the American people from paying taxes. With or without law, the United States most probably couldn´t exist without its people paying taxes.

Nevertheless, interesting fact.

From watching the film, conan, it seems that your income tax is entirely absorbed by the national defecit before it can even be spent on any services. Assuming that fact is indeed true, that is a frightening thought.

The law states that taxes are to be paid on 'profit and gains', not for labour. That is to say businesses should pay tax on their earnings, but not the individual for private wages.

I'm ofcoarse very new to the subject, and only siting this film as my source. But certainly seems at least grounds for further investigation into the existance of an income tax law. (I wonder if this is similar in my country!)
