Here in California they added a tobacco tax. It's about $1 per pack in taxes (after sales tax). That brings the average pack of cigarettes to about $5.50

I remember when smokes were $3/pack in Ontario(Cdn), I think they're somewhere between $7-10/pack now. Might be more, something I don't keep track of. It's funny, I can go pick up a mickey for $10-13.
