In 1986, Frank Zappa appeared on CNN's Crossfire to discuss rock lyrics and censorship. He made a name for himself as a political force to be reckoned with after this terse segment.

Amazing stuff. Thanks for posting.
They just don't GET why it's bad for a government to be a censor and degree X word is allowed in a song and Y word isn't, that this song vs that song is good or bad. How it starts out as a bad idea with a small impact that a few bad words are disallowed in songs and snowballs to start including no mention of things that go against Christianity or the government themselves or anything that they deem to be 'bad'.
They don't get it and no amount of valid argument can turn them.
So it's incredibly frustrating... I'd love to see one of these sorts of ones where the one in the 'wrong' is actually converted... that'd make me happy.
I was going to post this but my list is too large! I found it interesting while I watched this to recognize that society is censoring words today. It seems there are more words you can't say now than there were then. Zappa turns in his grave.
Sc
as for songs ... i'm still stuck in the 80's!!! lol so i can't answer that one ...
No wonder we say "Hey look, it's Frank Zappa and ... some guy on Crossfire."
