A clip from Fox News in the year 2505 from the Movie "Idiocracy" by Mike Judge. It shows us the future of new reporting, and seems depressingly prophetic.

"...an in other news closer to th' crib, head-on collisions in Detroit, have finally given up the throne, to the hit-and-run, street racers, with pedestrian near misses, stayin' straight at 23 persent!"
'Hehe heh heh Velveeta, who the FUCK, is stupid enough to walk.....Goddamn pedestrians!!"

dag: it is a great movie.
however, it is depressing, because after seeing it, you will see the signs of it's seeming inevetability everywhere.

Another good documentary was "OUTFOXED : Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism"

Sadly the full version was pulled from google, an edited version still 1hr,18min long is up but it had all but the interviews edited out, inbetween the interviews with former employees was clips supporting the claims in the interviews along with internal memoranda.

The edited version:

I watched this movie just last month or so.... it scared me!
It does make a point that stupid people have more kids than smarter people, but also it has been said that the average IQ in the world has been on the raise ever since man first appeared. So... I'm relatively confident something like what happens in this movie is very unlikely.

I loved Office Space. I'm a big Mike Judge fan. I've been seeing clips of this movie all over the place and I just HAD to see it.

The thing is, the clips I saw were ultimately better than this movie as a whole. Don't get me wrong, there were some great parts in it...but it just didn't stand up as a complete movie and parts of it just down right dragged. I still recommend it as a rental though.

I agree with Goofball_Jones.

Am personally hoping the rise of free information and knowledge via the internet will cease this from happening.

Hopefully.

Lame. I only laughed at the news anchor turning head before camera change.

Anyone remember the news programs in Robocop? I remember one where the talking heads were reporting about a satellite destroying half the Brazilian rainforest (or something similar) and how enviromentalists are calling it a disaster of huge proportions. The one talking head turns to the other and facetiously says, "but don't they always?"

Fox News, right there. Paul Verhoeven got it right, way back in 1987.

Well, not exactly. Not to take anything away from Mr. Verhoeven, but the story was that of the Star Wars missile defense satellite laser cannon misfiring on Santa Barbara where it hit several homes, causing the deaths of 2 retired US Presidents (the needle on the trusty IronyMeter was buried with them).

But there wasn't any Fox-esque tactics to taint these fictional stories. Maybe you're thinking of RoboCop 2, which I do not know nearly as well.

/\ Was it the Amazon nuclear plant had an accident? I watched it the other night, to my surprise they were showing an uncut version of Robocop that was much bloodier than was ever shown on video years back

Assuming my memory is just as keen as yours, I watched Spiderman do battle with General Zod and company, which was exciting. I also saw Jurassic Park where a T. Rex climbed the Empire State building. That was kewl. And I remember seeing Lieutenant Ripley flatten a Terminator in a hydraulic press. Great flix, all around.
