Wait, wtf? I'm not convinced that it was actually the car parts making all those sounds. Like why does the car hood sound like a kettle drum when hit instead of a steel barrel like every other hood? And how does that "brass-like" instrument work with one key?

"Composer Craig Richey, sound designer Bill Milbrodt, and friends used a five-door Focus fresh from the factory floor, took it apart, then used the car's many parts to create 31 musical instruments. We're not talking flutes and trombones here, folks. The musical maestros used Focus parts to create such original works as a Rear Suspension Spike Fiddle and Door Harp." -audioporncentral.com

The music is real, the video is TV magic.

Sure they used the focus to create instruments. But did they use THOSE instruments to create THAT sound? Notice how the article you quote doesn't specify Abducted?

I don't believe those sounds were made by those instruments. There's no way you could get a stringed instrument made out of car parts to sound exactly like a conventional instrument. Especially not when you play it with a windscreen wiper. The instruments looks good, but these folks are just miming.

They may have been able to make simple tones with what we're looking at. I'll submit that at best they pulled single, clean tones off with a sampler and then played back various notes with the same.
