@ 17m30s:

Charlie Rose:"you think this principle is so important that if there are some fans that can be alienated because you are out front leading the fight, you are saying-"

Lars Ulrich: (Bye Bye motion)

CR: so 'goodbye we have enough fans we can spare a few-'

LU: Bye bye - If you don't have enough respect for the fact that I believe this way and that I have a right to challenge it and try to right it for what's right for me, I don't want you as a fan.

And the fans reacted.

The music business' reaction to digital music in 1998 was typical. Only ten years later do we finally see genuine signs of change in that decades-old business model. Technology can't be stopped. You can either change with it or fight against it. So Chuck D was right.

I love when Lars talks about his new album that might take a while because they are so busy trying to swim upstream. Oh, and the fact that he does not want to talk about morality, only the law. Since when is the law more important that morality? Only when you don't have morality on your side.

Also awesome and in this video: Malcolm Gladwell on "The Tipping Point," his book about the "anatomy" of trends. Begins at about the 38 minute mark.
