The level of ignorance these people display is truly frightening. I'd really like to know what the "websites" and "news sources" are that feed them their opinions, but I guess I can make a pretty good guess.

I'm proud to say I live in Kentucky. While I voted for Barack, as did most of the people in my (the most populous) county in the state, it was a drop in the bucket. Most of the revenue generated by the state comes from Louisville. Just remember, by making a broad statment about ALL Kentuckians, you are engaging in the same prejudiced slandering that you are bashing. And for the record, the south doesnt own up to us, nor the north. It aint easy being the middle child.

thanks Bfresh.. i'm in Lexington myself, and i'm getting quite fed up with all of this stereotyping since the primaries moved this way. it's good to know that other people are as irritated with it as well, and this is just another case of the louder minority of the population getting the airtime. if people thought about the US as a whole the same way they think of Appalachia, the US would be nothing but Hummer-Driving, FOX watching, Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps-following, warmongering fatties...but then again, maybe we are.

I hope you do lash out. While it should be obvious that a few low IQ'ers don't represent an entire region or state, from a 3rd party point of view it can be hard to keep an objective perspective without being reminded that reasonable people make up the mix. I'm not suggesting that it should be your responsibility to remind everyone of this fact, but I appreciate hearing it.

Regarding hearsay, the evening news is even worse than Wikipedia. At least Wikipedia has a rule about citing sources. Most TV news doesn't cite any kind of source for any story, and parrots what other TV news stations are reporting with minimal additional research.

I'm from Lexington as well. This isn't really representative of the general population, at least not around here but this kind of thinking is prevalent in many parts of the state and is definitely enough to cause trouble for Obama when combined with the people who are voting against him for more legitimate reasons.
