Fear Mongering About Health Care Reform From The Right Wing

More lies and fear mongering from the usual suspects.

LOL. I could of sworn I heard "mother fuck".

The US is so ass-backwards compared to other developed countries when it comes to health care. It makes me laugh that so many people are opposed to providing care to everyone. Oh wait, it's just the rich that will "suffer" that don't want it.

Boo-fucking-hoo. Makes me very glad I live in Canada.

It's foolish to believe government can make anything more efficient and available, and save more money than the private sector can doing it.

Were it true the Soviet Union would be the world's premier superpower and the USA would be extinct.

This is not a question of right versus left. No matter who pretends to run the show, it's really the bureaucrats. Medicare and Medicaid fraud has been rampant since those program began. You think these dumb bastards care about "your" money or health? Once they get it, it's their money. And unlike a private company, gummint never goes out of business.

If I hear one more nutjob lie and say that Obama's health care plan will eliminate private coverage I'm going to break their legs.

Ironically their health care probably won't pay for the ensuing physical therapy.

It's not about the government making it more efficient, it's about taking out all the middle-man, money-grubbing hands in-between. Removing several layers of middle-men will outweigh the added inefficiency by the government taking over.

I have to agree with QM here. The system Obama is trying to put in place is a little better, but it's not democratic or an overhaul in any meaningful way.

Also QM a little history lesson, the Soviet Union was a 3rd world Nation that used a form of Totalitarianism actually closer to Fascism to pull itself into competition with the worlds greatest super power after World War 2. The US controlled over 50% of the entire worlds wealth after World War 2, and even though the USSR was practically destroyed by the Nazi War machine it still used it's horrifying system of control to bring itself into competition with the USA. Although estimates of the Soviet Unions power and influence were greatly exaggerated by US planners, it was still a 3rd world nothing nation that could've posed a serious threat to the most overwhelming world power history has ever seen.

So all in all, what the Soviet Union did was actually quite amazing, also considering the fact that it was nearly destroyed twice in the same century.

QM is right though, it is not a question of Right versus Left. It's about democratic control, we haven't had it, and we're not getting it. We have to demand it.

What is a more democratic version of health care than having a democratic government running health care?

Oh god people, please don't bring USSR into the mix! For your enlightenment, here is a current list of countries that have universal healthcare, or some sort of publicly sponsored health care system :

Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Cuba, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Ukraine and the United Kingdom

And I don't think these countries are all led by democrat, leftist, socialist,or son-of-African-immigrant leaders either.

"What is a more democratic version of health care than having a democratic government running health care?"

Health Care is a stunning example of just how undemocratic America really is. For decades a majority of the population has wanted free and easily accessible health care up to 80% (polling and such). Yet in the 2004 election during one of the debates pundits pointed out that John Kerry didn't bring up the idea of Free Health Care because it has so little political support. So little meaning only a majority of the people, however it's the people that don't matter. In the 2008 elections it became a topic but not because we've become more democratic, it's because the system we have now costs a ridiculous amount of money. General Motors realized that it costs them $2000 more to make a car in Detroit than it does in Windsor (Canada). The state pays for health care so it's just much more efficient and cheaper, with better results than what we have now. So to recap, Free Health Care only because an issue that had Political support not when a majority of the public wanted it, but when business interests realized it was hurting their bottom line.

That doesn't sound like a very democratic society to me.
