A groung cable from a powerline, strung from the tree at the top, made it possible to slide down holding a section of pipe to let go over the river....at the lowest point in the cable, depending on one's weight, you would either pull up yer ass and enter the rise fast enough to make it to the river, or yer fat ass would drag the ground 20 yards early, and slow you down enough to eat shit on the bank.....great fun.
i so wouldn't go a second time, though. the bearing in that thing could be so brittle.

The zip slide is 280 meters high, two kilometers long, reaches a speed of 140 kilometers per hour and guarantees a four minute unadulterated adrenalin rush. ... At times 100m high and at other times only 4.5m above the ground. The cable runs from the top of the 280m high koppie and the other is attached to the top of a mast 2km away. "
