Funny that this should come out of the country who leads the world in ridiculous
a) protecting children from all and any harm they could ever, possibly do to themselves (don't let them play with ANYTHING that could in ANY conceivable way hurt them)
&
b) sue the shit out of anyone you possibly can if anything goes wrong, shift blame, refuse to accept that you had any fault in your mistakes.

Let your children experience things, let them make mistakes, let them learn to cope and grow from said mistakes, do NOT teach them to blame all and sundry if something doesn't go right. If something bad happens, learn from it and move on, don't try and make a profit from it.

F*ck people's attitudes are depressingly self centered these days

Life is like a video game. You need to achieve 10 fails in order to unlock 1 type of success.

This is my current life philosophy, I kid you not. Needless to say people think I've been in front of the computer monitor a bit too long.

Well, yeah, but . . .

There are plenty of folks who fail, fail again, fail some more, fail even more, fail again, and again, and again, and then die. There are also many people who do nothing but succeed. Let's not get too simplistic. I mean, a guy who likes a girl who doesn't like him could get the totally wrong message from this.

I'm just sayin'.

See, anyone can do a video like this. It's easy.

"Married 13 times. Made a fortune, then lost it all, then made another fortune. Kept the toupee industry alive single-handedly. Patented the words 'You're Fired'."

Great commercial. But I don't know that I would have included Grant, seeing as his administration was one of the most scandalous in history. But I guess if you're just focusing on the fact that he made it to President...though, that'd be like including the monkey we have in office now, wouldn't it?

if you've got the wits and talent, you'll learn from your mistakes and accumulate experience.

If you're sure about your abilities and tenacious enough, your goals will be met when a little bit of luck comes your way. It's all matter of patience of trying and waiting at that point.

If you've become bitter over the years due to all the failures and tribulations, well then perhaps you don't have what it takes to succeed.

There are people out there that has it easy and gets extremely lucky, but you should not hold their cases as a standard and expect the same thing.

"I am Hillary Clinton, and I approve this message"

Cute video, but the some "facts" presented are nothing but fabrications and urban legends.

e.g.- Walt Disney NEVER worked as a creative asset for any newspaper. Although, he delivered the Kansas City Star and Times for his father's paper route when he was a child, Disney was never hired by a newspaper as a cartoonist. - there were no openings.

e.g - Thomas Edison once said that a teacher considered him "addled". The alleged note to his mother Nancy saying he is "too stupid to learn" is an imaginary figment.

e.g - (The Great Moments with) Abraham Lincoln was first elected to public office at the age of 24, became a member of the bar at 28, after teaching himself law, after 8 years as a State Rep. became a US Rep at age 36. Some failure.

e.g - Hilary & the Donald. Well, that stuff is true.

Agreed.

Disney was a nutjob anti-semite. His corporation is postumously responsible for the further eroding of children's creativity.

Edison, while quite talented, was brutally protective to his own interests to the point when you consider the contributions of Tesla, you realize that Edison's politically powerful attempts to keep better technology away from production solely for the agrandizement of his own name bring into question whether we should be worshipping him. Ironically, many of Tesla's inventions are now slowly taking over where Edison left off... the compact flourecent light for example, which will hopefully put to pasture edison's more expensive, and less environmentally favorable model..

Yeah, you can't just take this message as a simplistic 'If you fail, just keep at it and you'll become great'. What it's trying to say (or at least SHOULD be) is that you will rarely, if ever, get it right the first time, if you fail at something the first go, don't just give up, LEARN from the failure and do better next time. The key word is LEARN, you can't fail and then do exactly the same thing again and expect for success (unless it's just a dumb luck thing), you have to adapt and improve.

Just don't take any and all people's denouement of you as fact, you must listen to what people say, and take it on if you feel it's constructive, but don't necessarily just give up because you're told by someone who may not be qualified to tell you anything that you're a failure.

This type of message leads to a life of unmet expectations, and unhappiness.
It makes people expect everyone can have a successful and exceptional life.

For every failure that succeeded - millions failed and failed again.
The odds are: we will almost all have average lives and not be heroes or successes.

You can be unhappy and keep failing until you maybe win the lottery of success.
Or - you can be happy with what you have, and let what will be, be.

True happiness is surely better than the unmet desire for success, fame and fortune.
