Family Guy - Han Solo's Carbon Freeze

The famous "I love you" carbon freezing scene gets a facelift.

All the clips I'm seeing from this Empire special seem agressively crude. But at the very least, it's a joke, as opposed to the usual "remember that time" shit.

I used to have a real hate-on for Family Guy but the first Star Wars special sort of won me over. I think it's funny when they do actual jokes, like the couch bit in the Star Wars special. From the screenshot and title I expected Peter to do the opposite of what Han does in the scene and say something massively insecure and douchy, descending into the pit with a hilarious expression on his face. They went the other way, which is a valid choice, but they approached it in a lazy and craftless way.

Since the original "I love you" / "I know" exchange was famously an ad-lib on Harrison Ford's part, I suppose that I could consider this funny if they spent some time establishing that and thereby compared Peter Griffin's talentless assclown approach to Ford's.

I guess I still haven't warmed to the Family Guy approach towards comedy -- more power to you if you're a fan though!

Family Guy went off a cliff a couple of seasons back. I ditched the show about 10 episodes ago, and thought I'd give the special a shot. Probably made it no further than 30 mins before I couldn't take any more poor attempts at humour.

Well i found it funny. Goes along the same line as a lot of comedy does. Lead you one way then take you another. Yep, that was comedy last time i checked, i didn't expect peter to say that, so i think i can certifiably say this is funny as according to the neuremberg comedy standards treaty of 1973.

Srsly though, stop being so anal about it. Family guy WILL get abuse no matter what it does. People forget that they were making a film parody, that's a scene from the film, they changed 2 words and turned it into any kind of a joke and that's what you do in film parodies. No need to analyse the crudeness or the language or anything else. Fair play to them, stop whinging that they used the word fuck.
