Euphoria Naturalmotion Animation Demo - The Tech Behind GTA4

Euphoria has created a character animation system that doesn't require an animator to generate all possible movements of a character. Combining AI, Physics, and Biomechanics, characters react realistically to any situation thrown at them, as shown in this demo.

This is the animation tech behind GTA4 and other upcoming games.

Neat! The future is now. I still remember standing in an arcade when the first Mortal Kombat game came out, and thinking "this is it -- this is the pinnacle of videogame graphics. It can't possibly get any better than this." We've come a long way since then.

It looks intriguing! How they manage to get it to look at the object that is effecting them and put out their arms to protect their face when they fall looks quite promising.

In the recent Star Wars: Force Unleashed demonstration they showed more of this... Though some of their self preservation reactions seemed to have some unintended behaviours.

So I'm guessing it takes 2 bullets to kill people in GTA IV, right?

I also thought of the Force Unleashed demo immediately. This looks to be very promising, if perhaps taxing on the CPU.

I've been watching this tech for ages, and expected the first game to come out with it to be the new Indiana Jones one... but GTA4 has beaten it, and force unleashed may do also.

Indiana Jones and Force Unleashed of course combine this tech with Digital Molecular Matter (DMM) to give people that react to stimuli as well as objects that break and react as well... so being able to through someone through a glass window and have it all react realistically... THAT's exciting.

Still, I seriously want GTA4... except I have a PC... so I have to wait, what, usually a year. And on top of that I never have time to play games anymore

Seriously, forget GTA IV or Force Unleashed. Just give me a demo of this where I can put those guys in a room and spawn in moving objects or drop them off buildings and see what they do and I'm good.

Wow, this is REALLY impressive. That sort of stuff looks mind-crushingly hard to do. Kudos to the naturalmotion peeps!
