Dropping in on a skateboard ramp is against the law
tags:"I was suspended for 30 days and threatened with arrest for skateboarding at a skate park. the park is free and unstaffed, and I have a waiver on file, yet some security guard and a local cop take things to the next level. it was ridiculous and hilarious... "

I'm not gonna repeat myself.
What? Really? How incredibly moronic!
And the kid offered to show evidence multiple times and she wouldn't even look. OMG this makes me mad...
Thaz some buw sheet.
*grammar nazi says it's 'community' not comunity. (@6:20)
If you were allowed to be on the wall, there'd be at least a ladder there. I mean holy crap, the city has a free skate park for them. A DECENT one, not a glorified basketball court, and they have to push it.
Besides, standing up for yourself when you're that age is stupid, shine the cop on, apologize to Andy Griffith there, and hell, you might have been back on the ramps tomorrow, but NOOOOOO, had to stand up to the Man... *shakes head*
***He should sue for being trespassed by the cop though. Can't go around trespassing people, even if you have a badge. OMFG learn English.
****I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE OBVIOUS WITH THE SARCASM?? Philistines.
Why is there so much uninvestigated crime? Because the people who are supposed to be keeping criminals off the streets and away from management positions at stock exchanges are busy cracking down on kids for NOT committing crimes.
Haven't you heard? They just busted a bunch of corrupt judges and cops for making a profit from busting and jailing minors.
Crime is an industry, and a profitable one at that. You don't like it, move to a free country. Oh wait...
Unchecked capitalism = fascism.
A security guard at a "non-supervised" park? He calls himself an "officer?" No, he's an over-privileged civilian with a power trip problem.
The cop couldn't even come up with a viable charge, other than "he says you're kicked out, and I don't understand what a skate park is, so I guess what he says goes." She just didn't want to be wrong and have her visit be a wasted one.
I hope the person shooting the video contacted Georgia's attorney general and these peoples' respective bosses. This is either a lawsuit, or both the cop and the wannabe cop need to lose their jobs.
That said, I probably would have just left right away and came back 20-30 minutes later and gone back to skating. Meh.
And again, I generally agree with the skateboarders, because usually it's the cop having a power-trip. But in most videos, the kids make it hard to defend because there's always that one guy opening his big mouth, saying whatever insult and curse word he can think of, making the group look bad. And honestly? That's what I was expecting from this video.
But that wasn't the case, and thus made this clip baffling. These were intelligent, respectable people who rightfully fought their side of the story (like any good citizen should). Not to mention they had valid arguments and recorded evidence. The response from the officer and security guard were completely ridiculous, and it didn't help their case that they were dealing with people who knew what they were talking about.
And no, people should never EVER just take a police officer's orders as legit without at least questioning their reason for it, just because they're an authoritative figure. Especially if something ultimately seems wrong about the situation. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's generally best to abide by their demands in the end (little things like this are never worth getting arrested for just to make a point, in my opinion), but I absolutely recommend using your right to explaining your perspective as to how they're completely wrong before doing so.
It's just unfortunate that a lot of police officers feel that in doing this, you're giving them 'attitude'.
I wonder what became of this however... the uploader's page revealed no other info on what happened afterward. Either he did what he intended to do or he's one of those gutless skaters who only wanted YT traffic for his controversial video.
Pursuant to United States Criminal Code Article 1, Subsection D, Item 10, Paragraph T, all citizens must cower before any and all high school drop-outs with a badge sewn on their shirt, failure to do so will result in immediate summoning of night school trained police official to serve summary punishment of a long winded explanation of confused circular reasoning, followed by a ridiculous banishment from premises, the outcome of which is security guard and said cop feeling smug about doling out unfair nonsensical punishment to said innocent citizens.
I hate cops. Time for a bloody revolution.
Can I do that from the computer? I don't wanna get up...
That being said, you really gotta post the rules before you can enforce them. Remember, those skate parks are created to keep skaters off the streets, away from the damage skaters tend to do around business complexes. Kicking them out for stupid reasons will totally defeat the purpose.
Also, what kind of person thinks its a good idea to argue with a police officer, or tell them what to do?
Its illegal to spit watermelon seeds on a sidewalk on Sundays. Ever seen a sign on a sidewalk posting that law? There is nothing about laws that say they need to be posted. A cop can arrest you for practically anything because the US has over 50,000+ laws. How can such a system ever be legitimate, if there are so many laws you can never know whether you are acting legally or illegally?
This isn't about any little known law forbidding a particular behavior, it is about a rent-a-cop making up rules to suit his whims, calling "real" police when his commands are rebuffed, and a shitty cop backing him up and threatening to charge innocent citizens with crimes they have not committed. There are rules posted for the skate park and no where does it forbid getting on top of the wall for any reason.
Also, what kind of person thinks its a good idea to argue with a police officer, or tell them what to do?
If you're in the right there is no reason not to argue. As long as you don't threaten the officer or become physically aggressive, they can only run their mouth and try to intimidate you. If they were to arrest you it'd be some time out of your day, but it'd cost them their job. And you might get a decent settlement check from the city when you SUED THEIR ASSES. Cops are continuously abusing their limited powers, and using intimidation and fear of arrest to make people bend to their will. It's time we let them know they're not going to get away with it anymore.

Kinda disappointed there is no followup. It is the kind of tape the news would love to make a big deal about...
How much more followup do you want?
