I've always thought Stanhope and Joe Rogan were the closest the world has come (so far) to a viable successor to Bill Hicks. Name me another comic who is socially and politically conscious like Hicks.

I'd really like a list of names so I can buy their stuff, thereby avoiding all the rest. I mean, peanuts on airplanes is a regular ol' gutbuster and everything but it carries a bit less weight.

This makes for great comedy, but the politics are pretty whacked.

The central premise here is that you're born free, but encountering a world full of other people who have rights, that's what enslaves you, because you have to respect the rules of society.

I mean, dammit, you can't even drive on the sidewalk when there's a traffic jam!

Total BS, my freedom is being infringed!

I think he was talking about the extraneous laws that govern personal decisions which don't affect others, such as wearing a seat belt. I'm quite sure he understands the implications of completely abandoning societal laws.
