District 9 Trailer HD - No Blurred Face & English Subtitles
tags:An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology.
Now that we know what the alien is saying, it puts a whole new spin on the movie.
I found an HD version and updated the embed code, looks much better.

^Does it? Wasn't it clear that the humans would be portrayed as the 'baddies' and the "aliens" would be a metaphor for "immigrants" all along?
From the first trailer I got the impression that the aliens were here, and were a threat somehow, and the government was interrogating a captive to find out what they want and make them go away somehow.
I guess I just wasn't paying much attention, since there definitely are clues, like the woman saying "they spend so much money keeping them here"...
Anyway, this movie was on the top of my list since the first trailer, and the bar for another movie to pass it just got raised

I just hope the "moral" isn't presented in as heavy-handed a manner as the trailer suggests.
I'm a big fan of movies where there aren't "good guys" and "bad guys", just people (or, y'know, others) with conflicting motivations. Life is rarely clear-cut, and I resent being lectured to as if it were.

makes me think of that robot police video from years ago:

It should; that's another of Blomkamp's shorts, done in his signature style.
