On Fox News’ Hannity & Colmes tonight, conservative pundit Dick Morris tried to attack Barack Obama for being inexperienced on foreign policy, but in doing so, only managed to demonstrate his own idiocy. Morris argued that Joseph Biden would be a good vice presidential selection for Obama because Obama “does not know anything” about foreign policy.
To back up this claim, Morris asserted that Obama made a major mistake this week when he referenced the U.S.’s invasion of Iraq in the context of discussing Russia’s incursion into Georgia. Obama said, “We’ve got to send a clear message to Russia and unify our allies. They can’t charge into other countries. Of course it helps if we are leading by example on that point.” Asked by Alan Colmes what is wrong with Obama’s statement, Morris explained:
Where he’s wrong is that we went into Iraq at the invitation of the government, not as an invasion.
Colmes quickly rebutted him, stating, “We went into Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein.” Morris backtracked for a moment and said, “We are in Iraq now at the invitation of the government.” But seconds later, Morris repeated his false assertion:
We’re in Iraq as the result of a democracy asking for us to come in there. It’s not an invasion. It’s not a takeover. We’re not trying to annex Iraq.
Colmes again explained, “We went into Iraq originally — not at the invitation of Saddam Hussein’s government.” (From Think Progress)

and how quickly are these guys tryig to rewrite history? faster than china during the olympics.
Bush: Russia must not invade a sovereign nation.
Rice: This isn't 1968. You don't invade other nations.
McCain: In the 21st century you don't invade other nations.
Morris: Iraq wasn't invasion. It was at the behest of a democratic government that didn't exist yet.
What the hell is going on here? Did we change the meaning of the word "invade?"
My head is lying in a pulpy mass on my bedroom floor.
Did he just say the US entrance into Iraq was because the sitting govt. INVITED it ?????
HOLY SHIT!
HOW....HOW DO THESE GUYS GET AIRTIME !???
HOW....HOW DO THESE GUYS GET AIRTIME !???
Well, it is Faux news....
You've got to give him credit though, that answer makes more sense than most of the White House's explanations for why the US invaded Iraq.

Just because you can remember recent, major, historic moments in human civilization you act like anybody should be able to remember them!
Chapter 1: Invasion = Liberation
Chapter 2: Civil War = Sectarian violence
Chapter 3: Recession = Economic slowdown
and so on...
War = Peace
Freedom = Slavery
Ignorance = Strength
Happy happy double think!

I guess he just read the textbook of the current administration, entitled: "How Reality Doesn't Really Matter; The Words You Use Define It."

That was all I could hear as I watched this clip. Unbelievable. I wonder if he believes his own words.
By "The world needs moral clarity" he means "You need to be told what to think".
Moral fucking clarity...I'd love to know what goes on in these people's heads.
hehe, invited by the iraqi goverment! GOLD!
It sounds like he's actually saying the people of Iraq were part of a democratic government that invited us. But he can't actually be trying to say that, right? Maybe the democratic government that invited us was the UN?
When the We enter a country by force, it's constrained liberation.
Get with the terminology already.
I'm not American but I'm totally an Obama supporter if only for the fact that he seems to be against a lot of what these morons are for.*
*Not saying he doesn't have good policies or points but seriously, if I were a Yank, I'd vote for a pot smoking chimp before McCain and his ilk. Someone like Obama, with actual policies that make sense, is a no brainer...

yeah, and Hitler 'liberated' Europe

(Slavery was what justified the war against the CSA)
Georgia is flouting South Ossetians' right to national self-determination, and they turn to Russia for help, which gladly pounces on any chance to expand their empire. Though it's sad that the statistics seem to point to a split based on ethnic groupthink rather than having broad appeal to non-hereditary (rational) thought.
Apparently letting people come on the show and say false things (and trying feebly to correct them) is replacing the question mark (as in, "Is Obama a Muslim?") is faux news' new way of propagating falsehoods without actually being liable for doing so.
Funny how the question isn't should Russia be condemned by the world, just that we need to be clear why.
And on the off chance that someone thinks I fully approve the Russian attack let me just say that no, I don't. Just as I didn't approve the USA invading Iraq.
Wow.... Colmes actually made sense. For once.
For twice.
