The thing about these kinds of acts is that there's no suspense. Speculating about methods is fun, but the attempt to build tension fails for me. The only possibility of failure would be a catastophic failure of each of several safety measures.

I've seen one with Brown supposedly hypnotising a guy via a video game, then placing him in a "real" environment with zombies, guns, etc. Totally fake - that one so much so that the entire segment was pointless (unlike this one).

If you're as impatient as me, skip to just after 9:20

I'd personally be more scared when the guy was loading the bullet in the revolver. So much for gun safety...

wiki:

"The programme was initially condemned by senior British police officers, apparently fearful of copycat acts. However, when the filming location was revealed to be Jersey,[1] many accused Brown of perpetrating a hoax. Several days later the Jersey police said they had been consulted about the programme in advance, and revealed: "There was no live ammunition involved and at no time was anyone at risk."[1]On the other hand, as demonstrated earlier in the programme, firing a blank cartridge at point-blank range can still be extremely dangerous or even fatal.

Brown himself defended the programme, saying, "It probably sounds odd. But as a magic-related performer to have that even being asked: Was it real? Was it not real? That lifts it to a level that I'm very comfortable with. What's left is the fact that it was a terrific piece of television.""

Yeah, a blank can still do some terrible damage. I believe it was years ago a soap opera actor accidentally killed himself with a prop gun that had blanks in it. They were joking between takes and he put it to his temple and pulled the trigger. Blamo, no more actor.
