By the way, I'm typing on a Dell laptop right now, and I can't stress this strongly enough. **NEVER BUY A DELL LAPTOP** (Just thought I'd put that out there, yeah f-you Dell and your overheating, motherboard de-soldering, proprietary battery pin breaking f-wads)

surprised you got that all out, with how fast those keyboards go out.

the design is pretty slick tho, and that would make LAN parties much more convenient.

Gotta say, though, Dell is finally *trying* to score points on the design/innovation front. About time!

BTW joedirt, with laptops YMMV is a key point. I had a Dell laptop and it worked quite nicely - Inspiron from about 2 years ago. Gave it to my cousin b/c work gave me a newer machine - and I don't need three machines!

That machine did survive falling out of my open (d'oh) backpack from standing level to the floor - I was impressed.

A laptop this size might seem like a good idea... until you have to lug the damn thing around all bloody day. Then you'll wish you had bought the 13"er.

Too bad it's a crappy Windows box. ;-) Seriously no matter how cool the hardware, more important is the OS that will run on it. Windows is becoming more and more of an albatross for hardware makers.

There's a reason that most of the ads these days show the computers with the screen off or with a DVD playing. Showing it with XP on the screen takes about 20% off the cool factor.

Linux would be OK, but good luck getting current drivers for brand new laptops.

You wanna see cool, download the Xgl demo bootdisk. That's some coool graphics stuff. (There are youtube vid)

Regarding drivers, luckily most Dell stuff works, their wlan, lan, graphics

Regardless of O/S, they'd get a 50% cool factor boost if they just showed the computer on videosift.com

LOL

Awesome

Idle thought: how do you distinguish between silver and platinum colours?

Good point. I think you would make it smaller than the silver one, because its per weight value would be higher. So you would get a small silver looking star. ;-)
