Very impressive. I thought the beginning could have been tighter and more could have been done to establish the story but still an excellent piece.

Great skills and animation, but like most of these, a little lacking in the emotion/depth of meaning department. That's what I tend to look for, as opposed to "wow, look what I can model." Still quite good though!

But it's no Kiwi! http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=20656

Problem I have with these sorts of shorts is that they seem to state the progress and technology is bad, yet use that same progress and technology to make a point. The medium and content contradict each other.

It's not contradictory. A technology by itself is not "bad". It's the application of that technology.

It is contradictory, however. The man in the house would never have that house or any of the comforts within without the factories producing it.

I suppose it shows some manner of forsight in that the man does not simply destroy the factories but minimizes it's influence. The only problem then is that any benefits he wishes to have from the factory now need to be shifted through the box. In essence, he wants to have his cake and eat it too.

There's nothing to suggest he's being hypocritcal here or contradictory. There's no problem with rejecting your environment or way of life as long as you are prepared for radical change. I think that's what the character is doing. Planting a big old flower out there might be a little heavy-handed for some but I think we get the essential point is that you can make changes if you want.

This short is sooo Ridley Scott.(Thats why the people look like crap, as does the environment.) Think about what its saying....One person thinking "outside the box" can make a change. Just my .02 FWIW.
