God homeopathy pisses me off... it should be illegal...
The other day I heard a commercial on the radio where they were advertising "medication" for tinnitus, which I've had as along as I can remember, I actually got kind of excited that someone had finally found actual medication for it... and then came the magic phrase "and you know it is safe because it is completely homeopathic!"
Some great (and most importantly, accurate and biting as fuck) comebacks to homeopath loonies, who there seem to be more of every day. I will most definitely be using some of these the next time I meet my acquaintances who are new-age fanatics. Dara O'Briain is my new hero

Around here, "nutritionist" has always been the casual term for "registered dietitian". In fact I don't think I have heard anyone claiming to be a nutritionist that wasn't a registered dietitian. So at first, I didn't get what was so funny about that part.
The chiropractor comment was interesting. I go to one every 3 to 12 months. He cracks my back and my neck and it all feels good after that. My wife can do it for me, too, just not as fast and thorough as he can. Costs me like $10 a visit. Is there some voodoo aspect of chiropractors that I am missing or occur elsewhere in the world?
Thanks for that dbalsdon. Interesting. Yeah, both of the chiropractors that I have visited didn't talk about most of that stuff in that article. They asked what I was experiencing in terms of pain or discomfort and what I was hoping to get out of it. For me, its usually a stiff back and neck from stress or a lack of exercise and I just ask them to crack my back and neck. They do a brief massage by hand or machine (think looks like a power car polisher) then he cracks my back from pelvis to shoulder. Then it's the neck and I walk out of there like I am high on drugs. Any headache I had is gone and I feel great.
My wife had an odd experience once. She had a bad headache and after 4 days and as many doctor visits, and prescribing stronger and stronger medicine that didn't do anything, she took her sister's advice and went and saw her chiropractor. He sat down with her and through about 15 minutes of talking found out that my wife had recently started swimming again and that the headache was probably caused by the neck twists for front crawl breathing. He massaged her neck, did an adjustment there, and 15 minutes later the 4 day headache went away. There was no voodoo there.
There's two sides to chiropractors - one is a scientific, medical thing about making sure your joints are in the right position. Particularly the spine. Spinal adjustments fixed my father's long term hip pain and my back pain has reduced, although not as much as I'd hoped.
The flip side is that there have been some very questionable claims of cures by chiropractors - curing deafness, for example, or stopping nightmares. For a long time it was anti-science, practitioners didn't want to know. I presume he means just this sort of chiropractor, although it's not really clear. I'd think he'd know there was a difference.
IMHO any chiropractory which applies to your back or your legs' nerves is legit. Anything that claims it will improve your mental well being is probably not worth it.

Nope, didn't say that. Massage is used to loosen up the muscles before cracking the ole joints. Massage therapists don't do that.

What a massage therapist does for your muscles, a chiropractor does for your joints.
That's not medically accurate (I presume!), but that's the end result, except a chiropractor's adjustments can last a life time.
