Wow! Color home movies were very rare at this time,only the wealth gadget geeks shot color in 44. What a great time capsule this is, can you imagine being at the beach on hot day in the clothes these people are wearing?

Spring, 1944. American soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are fighting and dying in Italy and the Pacific. The invasion of France is just weeks away. For servicemen and women lucky enough to be on leave, Coney Island is great place to blow off steam and have some fun. Check out the parachute ride, just moved to Coney Island from the New York World's Fair that ran in Flushing, Queens in 1939 and 1940. The parachute ride structure is still standing today in Coney Island, although it hasn't operated in decades.
