I have this on video somewhere and remember not only the incredible graphics but the beautiful music that went along with it. I hope you enjoyed this. :-)

Sweet!

I remember watching this video on the old-school C band satellite at my parents house when some music channel was the only thing on the then-new Galaxy 5 satellite.

Yes, I am a nerd, and yes, I had to program the receiver for my parents.

"Beautiful music"? I think it's a shame the music is so dated, unlike the CGI (the early 90's loved cheesy MIDI). Nice find though BNSA.

This was way ahead of it's time? 1993 I believe is the year Jurassic Park came out (I know because it was the first movie I saw after I graduated from high school). If this is amateur, then yeah it could have been ahead of it's time. I need more background info on this before voting. Where's my voter's pamphlet?

To think that now this could be procedurally generated and rendered in real time without any problems at all.

cobalt: You are very right. Just look at "Spore" the entire game will be procedural. It will rock much ass

InvaderSil: I have a GEFORCE 7900 Graphics Card and love BF2... to see this kind of graphics on a home system was unheard of. At best, we'd have to wait a few more years later for graphics of the original Tomb Raider/Lara Croft as comparison. This was the PS3/XBOX2 (graphics wise) of its time. (Hope this wins your vote) heh

I believe I had just bought a 486DX2 with a VLB graphics card. That was an expensive computer.

The name of this video is "Panspermia", it was presented at SIGGRAPH in 1990 and did NOT feature music by Jan Hammer. It was created by Karl Sims and Thinging Machines Corporation. It was rendered on their Connection Machine, a massively parallel supercomputer featuring 64000+ processors. The original video is available on Archive.org.
