Video Flagged Dead

Classic video hockey: Blades of Steel

Before the days of EA Sports, and Sega Sport’s NHL 2K series, video puck fans got their hockey fix with Blades of Steel, released for the NES by Konami in 1988. Not as sophisticated as today’s games (Blades only had eight teams to choose from), this was still a blast to play, complete with fuzzy voice audio, and LOTS of fights.
Here’s an additional clip that shows an intermission sequence, which I believe was the first form of in-game video game advertising, as well as the victory skate-around (unfortunately not embeddable): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0yYE28xte8
