I met a woman some years ago, I believe she was my step-mom's coworker, who told us this story of her cats acting very strangely. They would chase people who walked near them, sometimes diving into them headfirst. They would also jump and flip around in the air for no apparent reason. With help from her vet, she eventually tracked it to a flower she had planted in her garden not knowing it was of the catnip family.
This made me feel like I was watching some sort of cat porn. Maybe a cat orgy. Or just cats masterbating. Is that called Catsterbating? Who knows... pass the catnip.
I met one cat who got a little bit of froth on just from being petted. Mostly she just drooled though. Her humans had a little scrap of cloth for wiping her face!

hehehehe... we planted a big patch of this outside in the garden for our cats to enjoy... however, it has also served to attract the other neighborhood cats, especially when ours are inside. There is nothing funnier than when they are inside and through the windows they spy the other cats stopping by for a nip... they get all riled up and start howling at the window, like, "Dude! They're in our dope! They're stealin' our drugs! Noooooo!"
I think part of cats' appeal is that there's still so much we don't understand about them, like reactions to catnip and how/why they purr.
