Slightly dated (May 5th, 2006), but the bill to update the President's power for wiretapping is currently being debated (and/or being held up) in the House of Representatives.

Good information to further your understanding of the issues surrounding this no matter which side you are on.

Debate between Roger Pilon and Robert A. Levy . It is moderated by David Boaz, Cato's executive vice president.

It is 86 minutes long. The format is several arguments, counter arguments, and finishes with questions from the well-educated crowd.

One point I would like to bring up.

Towards the end Roger Pilon is making the argument that Congress can not limit the role of the President. That they only thing they can do not fund certain programs. There is some discussion about how to defund a black operation, but Roger Pilon holds strong.

When Congress funded the war in Iraq, they specifically stated that none of the funds were to be used to secure a permanent presence in Iraq. President Bush used a signing statement to eliminate that requirement. Doesn't look like Congress can use that as a method to maintain the balance of power which the founders tried hard to achieve.

Information found in sift listed below. Whether you agree with Noam Chomsky's conclusions or not, it would be hard to argue that he isn't informed and harder still to argue that he lies.
