aircrash - 10+ deaths, lets make a stink.
nuclear bomb - 500,000+ deaths, it's cool...
iran/iraq footage - we only see the dead bodies, not the moment of death, so it must be cool too.

For me there is none, although I respect the fact that everyone has their own tastes.
There's a different sort of thrill from watching machines crack up.
Actually, when I think about it... I'm kind of glad I don't have that ability.
Do you also rubberneck car-wrecks and go "Ohhh... Look at the shape of that fender!" without a thought for the passengers?
I guess I'm just throwing in my 2c on the "snuff" debate. I don't mean this to appear as a personal stab, Krupo.
If this was a chopper crash, I'd agree, b/c my amateur online flight simming makes it obvious to me how lethal that can be.
While this had the potential to be lethal, esp with the explosion, the fuselage looked intact at the end, lending me enough thought to believe that it was survivable.
Same idea with car crashes - I *will* go "eeeeeiiieee" when I see photage of a horrific wreck. Sometimes you'll see a bloody smear, and it's downright sobering. Conversely, sometimes the car's a write-off and yet the people walk away.
It's both amazing and a reason to pause for thought.
If anything, exposure to the reality of car crashes can be a wake-up call to people with a propensity to drive recklessly to be a bit more careful - people have an unfortunate tendency to feel 'indesctructible'... you can rightly argue that exposing them to factors - including crash videos - which temper their Need for Speed is a Good Thing.

Completely unrelated sidenote: I just noticed ender has hit 2000 votes. Since that meaningless fact will be oblierated in as soon as a few seconds, I thought I'd point it out now and celebrate it...
This was very interesting to me.
