Can You Guess What She's Painting?

Typical... Chinese people love to be copycats.
The pioneer here is Denny Dent
Dan Dunn really perfected the art, though.
Have a look: http://www.videosift.com/video/Dan-Dunns-Paintjam-performance-art
He has many videos on YouTube... well worth the watch.

That's some pretty sweet sweeping generalization there Pprt. Yeah, Denny did it first and Dunn did it better, but it's still quite the performance, and she also added the rotations and a bit of choreography to it and made it her own.

Mostly though, nice racism.

Racism... sigh.

If you don't know how much the Chinese love to steal things it's probably that you haven't investigated the matter yet.

Ask any national security agency and they'll have volumes to say about Chinese military and industrial espionage. Not to mention the huge market in China that relies on nothing less than forgery to exist.

as an american living in china for over a decade now...

i've often snickeringly poked fun at my chinese wife over her people's seeming disregard for 'intellectual property'

both her wit and her tongue have apparently sharpened under my years of derisive tutelage...

as she recently remarked, "a chinese man, t'sai lun, invented paper... and just think how many copies you white devils have made from that"

When I was in college (1981-1984) I saw Denny Dent paint. Also to music, no rotating canvas but HUGE (taller than he was). He painted Mick Jagger for us to, of course, Rolling Stones music. I have got to say, it's been at least 25 years since then and this one's not as good.

hey hey hey, she's not trying to revolutionize the history of art here.

She's doing a performance. A gig. Sheesh.

I don't know what you guys got against Chinese people, but branding one ethnic group to have one homogenous trait is indeed streotyping.

And branding them with a negative trait would borderline racism. I don't know if you're actually Chinese or not Pprt, but be proud of your heritage and try to look on the bright side of your people.

What kinda talk is that man?

Pprtsays...

I'm glad Diogenes backed me up... The truth is that anyone who has lived or worked extensively with the Chinese is aware how little they care about personal property. Much less ideas.

This is also extended to a proclivity to cheat and lie. Even on citizenship tests!

And legacy0100 I'm sorry to say that, indeed, unscrupulous behaviour is a common trait. Not an absolute trait, of course (nothing is).

Don't get me wrong, this young lady is undoubtedly talented and I couldn't reproduce such a painting in a million years.

WTF with the negative comment voting, OK so its like a general "I like that comment, I dont" (like videos) as opposed to a "inappropriate comment" , excellent I will downvote the shit out of comments now

Andy Warhol started this at an outdoor festival. He painted the Statue of Liberty in a 1/2 hour with alot of splatter. Denny did it quicker at Woodstock. Michael Ostaski has been doing this for 14 years. He does an awesome Santana.
