Paid administrative leave though? I wish I could assault people at work and get paid to stay at home while they sort it out.
The cop won't see a day of jailtime. This isn't "criminal" because it was in the line of duty. Anyone else assaults a minor like that, you can be sure they'd be behind bars.
Oh wait, today isn't opposite day!
That cops has some serious anger issues, and should be kicked from the force and sent to jail. I doubt either one will happen.
yay for America, the fastest growing police state in the world!
Atleast this video is getting a lot of air time on the news. Maybe people will start to wake up.
People forget that cops are only human, and trying to do a job. Cue little shits who were never disciplined at home pushing them too far.
We saw her kick shoes at the cops, and take up a "You can't touch me" pose. Wanna bet she was being mouthy as hell too? Thinking she was untouchable and could use the cop as a punchingbag to talk shit at, and vent her frustration at outrageously being arrested for breaking the law.
But yeah, FUCKDAPOLICE, OMG POLICE STATE! etc etc. One cop losing his temper =/= the whole goddamn force. Get real.
Not gonna be a popular viewpoint, but I reckon she probably got what was coming to her.

So your justification for him LITERALLY BEATING A LITTLE GIRL SENSELESSLY TO THE POINT OF UNCONSCIOUSNESS, is justified by her SWEARING AT THEM, AND KICKING HER SHOES AT THEM? Do you still beat your children when they dis obey? Do you understand that HE IS BIGGER THEN SHE IS? It would have been very easy for him to subdue her without harming here, in fact he is trained to just that, or do the practical thing, CLOSE THE FUCKING CELL DOOR!
You tried to make up for the disgusting things you said by saying, 'i know im not going with the popular view point but...', but that just wont cut it this time. There is nothing you can say that will justify violence from a dominate figure, especially since the officer, was much more violent then the girl could even have dreamed of being herself.
'get real', you say, we are real, and we see in our reality, police officers beating up young girls.
CAPITAL LETTEEEEEERRRRS every second WORD to show how SHOCKED and APPALLED I am!!!!!!!!
No, I would not beat my kids. Yes I think people with a "fuck da police!" frigging dumbshit attitude need a smack upside the head.
And my "not a popular viewpoint" bit wasn't an excuse, I was just calling it.

Oh good thing you got me on the capital letters there. Now you can denounce everything I say. Are you sure you didn't catch any spelling mistakes?
You are a disgusting human being. I hope YOUR not a cop too.
PS: If I meet you, I will shove your face into a wall, then throw you to the ground, then beat on your face a little, then lift you up by your hair and drag you out of the room. Sounds justified, after all you made fun of me on the internet, that's almost as bad as kicking your shoes at someone!
EDIT: No, stop posting at me. I have argued on the internet enough for one week already in this thread.
Besides, I thought you shouldn't pick sides based upon one persons actions? Or is that only true in the case of police officers?

This is way beyond just being overly rough in the process of restraining her after assaulting him. In that video, that looks like a pretty deliberate decision to hurt her while she was down.
And I guess just to clarify, in that video he's punching her in the head while she's down. Yikes.
Not gonna be a popular viewpoint, but I reckon she probably got what was coming to her.

Its a 180lb GROWN MAN against a 80lb GIRL for fuck sake.
Are you for real ?
There is no justification at all for a guy hitting a girl, let alone this fucked up situation.
Cop should of just shut the door, there was ZERO reason to do that, even if it was a 25 yr old dude doing that, it would still be way too far.
Fling your shoe at a cop, get your face smashed into a wall, pulled to the floor by your hair, and knocked out.
Fucked up.
isnt this the same as the top video which has already received 41 votes?
i posted it a long time before the other. i switched the video from the un-edited video to the news report to give it some context. then posted the raw cctv in the first post because little bits (like the officer wailing on her head on the ground) were cut from the story.
And while it's ok to argue that *teens that instigate with cops are being idiots, that's as far as you can tak things.
A normal response would have been to handcuff her so she can't dish out any more violence and record whatever else she says for the court record.
Administrating a savage beating is barbaric and evil.
Defending savage beatings is the mark of a troll.
I had great fun essentially doing some light trolling on the nascar fanboys via twitter tonight so yes, I know what great fun it is to tweak people's noses, but at least I had a the most noble of causes (calling out Fox on delaying Simpsons with poor scheduling).
Endorsing violence against women in any way is beyond stupid.

No excuse.
And I'm terribly sry but "only human" is fucking bullsht and you know it. Ever been booked doing 2 km's over the speed limit? Ever had a raid go through your house at 4am in the middle of winter because an "anonymous tip"/cranky neighbour said there was marijuana dealing going on there? (note: there wasn't but we were treated like shit, not allowed to get a drink or use the bathroom for the 2 hours they tore our house to pieces).
Yeah, they have a tough job and I'm sure somedays really suck, but when you are a custodian of the law you are held to a higher fucking standard, not a lesser one...
Lock him up in gen pop, let's see what a tough guy he is when it's not 15 year old girls having a go at him...

Don't you fucking dare try and dismiss me as a troll. If she has ever been taught respect for people in authority she wouldn't have needed this kind of reality check.
I'm sure the obscene amount of compensation she receives will help her to recover from the "massive emotional distress" she will claim she has been put through. Christ.
Drama makes the world go round.
EDIT: And "Cops being held to a higher standard". Yeah, right. Because they are all paragons of justice who aren't just there to enforce the law and pick up a paycheck for doing a job. Go on expecting robotic perfection from them though. Whatever floats your boat.
Or is that the best you can do?
Hahaha, and you downvoted my comment too. You probably don't even know why, it just "Sounded bad" right?
well, did the girl deserve a reality check beat down? Maybe. Is the cop a fuckstain? Most certainly, yes. In any event, that pig is a piece of shit undeserving of the Badge.
However, I think it would be in Lordoderus' best interest to actually discover the definition of Police State.

Well excuse the shit out of us for expecting people who are armed with lethal weapons and professionally trained to inflict massive amounts of damage with hand to hand combat, to have a little more restraint than Joe Shlub on the street.
I showed this video to my friend and my neighbor, both cops with 20+ years between them. They're response? They both said there's nothing that girl could have said to warrant the officers reaction. Police are trained to ignore all verbal attacks, threaten them physically it's your ass, but nothing you say should provoke them.
And you're right one psycho asshole cop doesn't make them all bad. When they get paid leave, and at worse lose their job for what would put ordinary people in prison, all the while their department backs them up and often defends their actions regardless of how obviously out of line and illegal they are, that makes them more bad than good.
Just once I'd like to see one of these videos where after the cop assaults a civilian and gets them restrained, for his partner to turn around and cuff the son-of-a-bitch, and them to immediately fire his ass and try him for 2nd degree battery. After seeing that a few times, we all might start seeing cops in a more positive light. Heck we might start assuming cops are there to protect and serve, not oppress and abuse.
>>Well excuse the shit out of us for expecting people who are armed with lethal weapons and professionally trained to inflict massive amounts of damage with hand to hand combat, to have a little more restraint than Joe Shlub on the street.
I accept that, but PRESUMING they do is liable to get your ass handed to you as we've seen in this clip. This is what I was trying to get at with my "only human" bit. Everyone snaps, even those in positions of authority. The popular term is "Going postal".
To think otherwise is borderline delusional, and just wishful thinking.
And of course the cop should pay for his actions. I'm not saying otherwise.
And in case anyone was wondering: Apparently the reason she was there in the first place was because she stole a car.
Paid leave is normal though. Police get into physical confrontations all the time (often with good cause) and it would be terrible for them to lose pay every time someone filed a complaint against them.
If he slammed her around for nothing but verbal harassment then hopefully he gets a proper punishment.
is it hot in here?

You're right, that was actually just really poor wording on my part. I didn't mean that we live in a police state, more that our rights and liberties are slowly being evaded and circumvented by the police. I should have worded that better, but I was somewhat distracted by rage and the taste of bile in my mouth.
I'm with ya though, horseshit like this needs to be stamped out.
Does the girl deserve a whoop ass (ideally from her parents)? Not sure, but given her attitude, probably yes.
Does she deserve a kick in the stomach, face smashed against the wall, kissing the concrete floor, double sucker punch and anti-gravity hair pull? Mmmmm... No.

Excuse me, but in a civilized society with the rule of law a person being in a holding cell (with or without legal justification - as far as we know she hadn't been pronounced guilty of the felony) has nothing, absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with how they could be (mis-)treated. If anything, their rights might be more limited, but they are supposed to be protected with a lot less flexibility; i.e. there are strict, clearly detailed guidelines for all officers of the law to follow with regard to how suspects are to be held.
Your quote and other comments above indicate you believe that this assault is somehow more justified than if somebody not under suspicion was the victim. And that, my friend, that framework of thinking is just wrong, pure and simple.
To mouthbreathers like Maze and Throbbin: Stop trying.
To others: No, in my opinion YOU are wrong. And your views based in fantasy.
Desirable as it might seem, that is not the world we live in.

No, their views are based on the Law not fantasy. Our government and society have set up a set or rules and regulations on how the police are allowed to treat people. Police officers are not allowed to beat the crap out of a person for no reason. Actually, they're not allowed to beat the snot out of people at all. Yes, they're authorized to use physical force, pain compliance, and even deadly force to restrain a prisoner or to save a life. In this case the term "excessive force" is a completely accurate description of the events. The officers probably had just cause to handcuff and restrain the girl, she did kick her shoe at them. They did not have justification to pummel her in the face, slam her on the ground, hit her a few more times while shes prone, then lift her off the ground by her hair.
That is not the view of some liberal fantasy world, that is the law. Now if you think that the laws are allowed to be ignored because "the real world is a hard place" or whatever, then I fear our society has gone past its prime. Everyone has to be held accountable to the law. Cops, Judges, Hookers, Drug dealers, and innocent people are all the same under the law. As a country and as a people, we have been ignoring the abuse by the police for far too long now. This needs to stop for the good of everyone in the country.

I'm not entirely sure the point you are trying to make with your argument.
Sure, it's possible that if you provoke a police officer then he or she may over react, or go postal. But just because that's what might happen, doesn't mean it shouldn't outrage the community.
Think about the argument you are trying to make with respect to law and civil society.
...and if I'm keeping you awake with my mouthbreathing, just give me a gentle caress on the thigh to wake me up. I don't mind sleeping on the couch.

I was over in England (2007) when your sissy forces caved in and sucked up to the Iranians. Cowards! What a disgrace! No wonder your pathetic empire fell. Had the Iranians done that to American forces, they would have paid a huge price in terms of dstruction of their miltary equipment and personel. They picked on you because you are pathetic cowards!
The girl got what was coming to her. I think she should have been caned as well (Singapore has the right idea)
She is abusive and disrespectful to people, she makes false child absue reports againt her father when he tries to discipline her. She threatened to shoot a girl in the face with a gun and was charged with felony assault for that threat.
The girl is producing so much bad Karma for herself. maybe we will get lucky, she will insult the wrong person and get "offed." The world would be a much better place!
Or, you Brits can take the coon: We do not need anymore damn criminal Blacks. More Black AMerican males have been to prision than college. They are 25-30% of the prision population, but only 12% of the overall US population
I reckon she probably got what was coming to her.

Works just fine for me.

Pardon me. What's obscene is the fact that Schene has been on paid administrative leave since December, and will continue to be so at least until the Sheriff's Office internal investigation is completed. The internal investigation is expected to be completed before his trial in King County Superior Court, due to begin Sept 9. This guy gets paid for sitting on his ass for 10 months after the assault. Now that is obscene. That and george11's comment.

A lot of good discussion of this issue exists on the raw, uninterpreted closed circuit footage of this unfortunate event. See it, and all those comments here: http://www.videosift.com/video/Cops-Beat-Cute-Girl-Senseless?noredirect
someone killed that video, it happens to be mine, it does show the unedited footage (which makes it different IMHO), I'd like it unkilled.

I agree with marinara, it's a shame that there was dupeof in this instance. It's impossible to reinstante the votes as they were now, but at least the other one could be unkilled and go by its own merits. Alternatively, you can post it again, marinara.
