good background. This sure didn't look justified to me.

What a terrible anchor. He had a list of questions - but was he listening to the answers?

Looks like CBS is taking a page from Fox...

Utah Police Spokesperson:
"...some of the other options that we have here in Utah..."

(muffled screaming of a guy getting tasered from the video in the background)

"are simply just to write "Refuse to sign citation" on the actual citation, hand it into the court and then -
Anchor: "uhhh, yeah"
Spokesperson: "also there's a state statute that requires you to sign that citation -"
Anchor: "wow"
Spokesperson: "we could also add on another charge to that or leave it blank,"
Anchor: (whistle) "whoa"
Spokesperson: "that's some of the options"
Anchor: "Unbelievable. Okay, Alright., I'm sure we'll be talking more ... alright ,yeah"

Wow? whoa? who is this anchor, and why does he want to work at Fox?

Jared is being a little dramatic. None of this is going to change the fact that he got zapped. Upvote for the follow up.

Big BIG $$$ for Jared.

Is one of the options for refusing to sign a speeding ticket getting shot?

Here are some officer training tips that might explain the use of the Taser (versus rolling around on the Interstate):

· Gain control of the situation
· Call your partner and/or call for backup
· Maintain control of the situation
· Make verbal commands clear to the subject
· Go one level higher than your attacker
· If subject lays hands on you, take him/her down
· Use whatever tools are necessary
· Never let subject return to his/her vehicle
· Keep the subject away from the vehicle and, if necessary, go to the vehicle yourself
· Determine when lethal force is justified; then, use it if called for
· Go by the book and lean on training as safeguards against liability issues
· Develop a scenario, a plan for any given situation.
· Be mentally and physically prepared to be a professional
· The issue of liability is not worth your life

If you watch the live video of this, the UHP officer goes to the wife and tries to explains to her why he just tasered her husband. Of course, she doesn't really believe the officer is justified, so it falls on deaf ears. Facist.
