Just so people don't get too carried away with the mystique of the Katana. This is Jon Clements, of ARMA, cleanly cutting a tatami mat with a dull European longsword. Japanese swords are exceedingly sharp, but the tatami test is merely a way to practice cuts, not evidence of a swords quality or ability to cause damage.

Ok so lets just say that any weapon I can use is much better than any one not having a weapon. Listen people! It is not about the weapon it is about the skill that uses the weapon. Even a calligraphic pen is can still be used as an effective weapon. There is no magic behind any weapon, they are all barbaric and destructive but we as humans find them extremley interesting.
