Bill Moyers - Excellent panel interview on health care

"We need a culture of courage in Washington instead of a culture of cowardice."

I couldn't agree with that man more. Democrats are proving over and over and over again that they are cowardly and I am becoming more and more and more disillusioned over my hopes for the Obama administration and a democratically controlled Congress.

Frankly, Obama's 180 on this (or perhaps more accurately 90 right turn) shows he does NOT have the courage of his convictions, and is willing to simply give up on something because it is hard. That is NOT the man I voted for and it eats me up inside to see him do this.

Goddammit, the one things modern "Republicans" have in spades is the cojones to take the bold steps and initiatives, dam the torpedos, and run in a direction until they by-GOD get what they want. Unfortunately they wanted a war for profit and the elevation of corporate profits over the safety and health of America's citizens.

If Democrats could find the same sack as Republicans had under GW, this debate would be over and done with. Use their tactics! Call supporters of the status quo unpatriotic, show up with guns to anti-healthcare rallies! Pay priests and pastors HUGE sums of cash to get them to tell their congregations Jesus would want public healthcare! Get country music stars to write songs for you! Christ people, republicans wrote the godsdamn playbook on this, just friggin COPY IT!

The Executive Board who sits ABOVE the President of the United States disagrees with Obama's policies, as a result he cannot execute them as he would like. Think Iran and the supreme leader. The USA also has such a structure but it is far more hidden and based on corporate dominance rather than religious zealotry. As long as profits remain the core motive in health insurance, there will be no improvement.

But seriously. Besides the tinfoil hat conspiracy theories... laws get passed that corporation disapprove of all the time.

It just takes some goddamn balls to do it.

Christ. Obama, if you pass healthcare reform NOW... in three more years when you're up for election either you will win handily because people will be so happy they can't stand it or you will lose because your government.. I don't know... kills people or something I don't really see a downside.

But you will be the incumbent president with MUCH more ability to be reelected than any challenger just as any encumbent president. But America despises weakness... more than anything. Jimmy Carter was portrayed as a wimp by Reagan and lost handily... because CARTER ACTED LIKE A WIMP! For the love of christ, Lyndon Johnson was a democrat! That dude was made out of fucking concrete and held meetings while he was on the shitter.

JUST DO SOMETHING OBAMA... AND DO IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND SOUL.

There is nothing Americans love more than a Rocky Balboa. Any guy that throws EVERYTHING he has into a fight, and keeps getting knocked down but gets back up to fight again... americans eat that for breakfast.

But if you go out there and get knocked out because you were afraid you'd hurt someone's feelings... well, join Jimmy Carter (a great guy, but not the greatest president) at the one term presidents' table.
