I don't know what's happening, but Mr. Maher has been increasingly slipping into these random topics and taking a really bizarre stance. At first, you think it's a setup for a lame joke, but he insists on being taken literally.

I think a few shows prior to this, he had a tirade about Western medicine being utter bullshit.

In both cases, he has (arguably) a valid point buried somewhere, but he dismisses the facts of the specific incident and rails on some kind of 'universal principle' that contradicts the actual incident to an embarrasing degree.

I blame PETA.

Yeah I remember thinking he sounded a bit far out on the whole western medicine thing. He may have a point about over reliance on treatment and not enough prevention but he didnt stop there.

Just wait until you are seriously ill, then choose between antibiotics or rubbing tea tree oil and essence of petunia on the affected area.

Jason Alexander is great as usual!

Maher's off his rocker, grabbing at strings to make poignant-seeming entertaining commentary.

Sure, what Bill knows is accurate. Someone else says something he pipes out "How do you know that?"

I was going to say that Jason Alexander has been on the show too often - but I wonder now maybe the producers insist he should be on to bring relevant poignant entertaining commentary to the show.

Perhaps Jason Alexander is preparing for his own show?
Or even...replace Maher?
