So to back up my last post about cars taking up too much space... here's proof that public transport can be improved. Private car use is not the future, electric or otherwise, there just isn't the space. Imagine if there was public transport saturation instead of traffic jams....

Take it from me. I'm from Portland and the public transit system has a long way to go. I live in New York now and I am amazed by the system set up here.

I walk across that bridge every day to get to work. Portland's transit system can always be better, but for any non-New York city in the US, it's absolutely fantastic.

This gives me an idea - companies that pay mileage for their drives should pay higher rates for drivers that start car-pooling.

If only tax rules would allow that.
