This kitty clearly understands the commands for several tricks: shaking, rolling over, spinning. He's a very handsome fellow too.

I bet she taught him that in what, say 12 years?

Wow! Something tells me that would take lavish amounts of food for a cat to do that.

Wow, a pet that can follow commands AND doesn't ruin your couch. Dogs are now officially obsolete.

Cats claw couches to shreds.

A common myth about cats is that they don't come when you call. This probably comes from cats doing what they want, not what you want, rather than their ability, as my cat always came when I called her in at night. It might take a while, as she roamed far, but would be running when she did come back. This wasn't something she "learned" for treats, but rather, she recognized her name, and the first time I tried it she came.

We've took in a young (around 2-3 years old) stray cat about about a year ago. My girlfriend taught the cat sit, stand (on the hind legs), and paw.

Dogs have owners,
Cats have staff.

Surprising, a cat that can do tricks. Surprising, compared to other cats.
But it's missing the vigor and enthusiasm at which dogs do tricks. The execution of these tricks by the cat look forced, lacking motivation. Like it's soul is broken.

Sure, at my work, it may be surprising to see me work hard. But it's not surprising compared to others.

Bengal cats are insanely smart. I have a Bengal but unfortunately she is anti-social due to being locked in a cage and not handled as a kitten. But she does love to play fetch with a little foam ball. She'll retrieve it and bring it back to me. If she doesnt get the ball close enough to me, I can say, "Caution, I cant reach that." She walk over and bat the ball closer to me. She learned that phrase in about 30 minutes. She's also got very bright stripes, much brighter than the cat in this photo. Also, if you ever have a chance to be around one of these cats, feel the paws. It feels just like suede. It's pretty neat.

Hey Chaucer, your name is sort of like Chaussies, which are hybrid cats of domestic cats and European wildcats. Bengals are hybrid with Asian leopard cats. Hybrid cats tend to be smarter than base domestic cats. Not that I recommend either of those hybrids until you get a few generations out from the hybrid cross (Bengals aren't even called Bengals until they are 4 generations from Asian Leopard cat). My Savannah cats are a cross with African Servals. My first was smart enough that I had to put child safety locks on all my cupboards and put a locking strap around my refrigerator (when he got hungry he would just open the fridge and then the meat drawer and run off with whatever he fancied). He played fetch, played in the bathtub with me, walked downtown on a leash, and loved me passionately. He was also an escape artist (I turned a lot of my doorknobs upside down so he couldn't open them as easily) and he got out and got feline leukemia and died. Now I will whimper a little. I'm a sucker for a smart, troublesome cat.

That cat really doesn't look like it's heart is in it. A dog does tricks and gets a reward, cats do tricks and expect payment. It's a job and when the revolution comes, this cat will remember these moments when it's slicing their throats.

The revolution is coming.
