Feb 2007 While the rest of the world was discovering punk and rock and roll, the only idol Chinese teenagers had was Chairman Mao. Now, thirty years on, rebellious music has arrived in China. 'Beijing Bubbles' follows a group of musicians who have dropped out of society to pursue their dream. They hope to pioneer an alternative culture but are met with bemusement and hostility wherever they go. An intimate and enlightening look at a different side of China.

Cool sift. I've been digging a little into the Chinese indie rock scene lately, and there are a surprising number of good bands there.
