Awesome Ron Paul smackdown on Fox moderator cheapshot
tags:At the Jan. 10 Fox Republican debate, the moderator sneers at Ron Paul: "Electability... do you have any?" The other candidates snicker like school kids. But then Ron brings down the wrath... I'm Canadian but I'm so proud of this guy and wish I could vote for him.

It's simple truths like that which keep us on the right path. I feel we lose sight too quickly with smaller details of elections, such as it being a personality contest instead of an earnest election of ideas.

The submitter's comment states he's Canadian but wishes he could vote for Ron Paul. In the US we are not allowed to check identification when voting because that's racist and classist. Feel free to come down and vote in as many primaries and elections as you like! We need more Socialist voters!
I'm trying to figure out which sifter this is a sock puppet for. Though I can probably guess. THERE IS NOT VOTER FRAUD. There is votING fraud, but a mass wave of people voting twice or "illegally" voting just isn't a reality. All the studies have shown this is a minor concern, compared to say... thousands of people disenfranchised because of Voter ID laws. (Native Americans just to name a few).
Imagine your sweet grandmother lives in a small town, has been voting at the same town for 50 years, everyone at the polls know her by name, and now is being turned away from the polls or forced to vote provisional. This is a real story and this is what the GOP wants. Anyone asks about the Republican platform, tell them about old ladies being denied their right to vote.
I know this isn't the Sift party line but I agree with the Fox puppet. Paul is a great candidate, I'd vote for him if I was American, but the sad truth is, he won't win any elections. He won't win any primaries. Electability might be a stupid phrase but the puppet is right, Paul ain't got it. He's smart, logical and consistent - that's not what the voters want!
You mean He's smart, logical and consistent - that's why the media wont let the people see his views. He's JUST what the people want! He's what the money makers in washing dont want!
He's a good speaker, but come on - the guy is completely nuts. Eliminate the Department of Education? Get out of NATO? If isolationism and unfettered capitalism is your cup of tea, then by all means vote for Ron Paul.
This is why RP has such an uphill battle. Your average Joe hears a lot of common sense in what RP has to say and then they hear "eliminate the department of education" and they automatically think "that's crazy talk".
But is it? Most people don't even realize that there was no DE until 1980. So does that mean that education in this country was shite for the 200 years before that? Some people would argue that education in this country has gotten worse since then...maybe not because of the DE but the DE certainly doesn't seem to have "fixed" or "improved" education in this country.
So if we did not need the bureaucracy of a 5,000 employee DE before 1980 and it doesn't seem like they have had a noticable positive effect on education since 1980...just maybe we would be better off without it. It would save money and return all the control on education back to the state and local level were it had always been and should be.
Regarding NATO...I think the problem RP and many people have with NATO is that the Constitution is very clear on what is required for our government to do if it is going to commit to a war. Some people think we should be bound to our constitution and not to a treaty or UN resolutions when it comes to going to war. Is that really such a "nutty" idea?
If only he wasn't totally naive about national defense.
Imagine China taking over the rest of the world while a Paul Presidency sits content that U.S. territory itself isn't invaded. If only he wasn't totally naive about national defense.
Or just imagine something more realistic...China waiting patiently until our empire collapses financially just like what happened to the USSR. Then China will be in a position to do whatever they want.
RP, does not have any problem at all with this country going to war if it is in the best interest of this country. All he asks is that we obey the Constitution and for congress to declare war if we plan on going to war. What is naive about that?
God I hate Ron Paul and anyone that refuses to acknowledge he is racist and insane. Somebody already beat me to the TNR article on him. Here's another fun link.

P.P.S. He's never going to get elected.
US GDP is something like 13 trillion. Not "broke" anytime soon and we're not fools about the free market equaling more wealth (unlike Soviets and American taxocrats). The USA is not an empire, unless you're Noam Chump-sky.
RP, does not have any problem at all with this country going to war if it is in the best interest of this country.
Does that extend to support of our allies around the world? Not according to Paul. And for anyone to think one man knows more than the rest of us combined is willing suicide to a would-be tyrant.
All he asks is that we obey the Constitution and for congress to declare war if we plan on going to war. What is naive about that?
Whatever voting Congress does now in lieu of an official declaration has so far held up. The naivety is thinking people will go along with Paul, even if he made it. People are the problem; they won't tolerate rapid change and millions are loyal to the welfare state either by direct compensation or the thousands of laws written to thwart free market competition.
I like Paul and 90% of what he says, but he's not fit to lead except in the eyes of his few followers, who credit him with being a savior.
Ironically, the Constitution he and we love was drafted partly to prevent "charismatics" from taking the place of the citizenry as rulers. The Constitution would be as much an obstacle to Paul getting anything done, had he a snowball's chance of being elected.
This clip was produced by David Walker, US Comptroller General (a position most people don't even know exists), head of the US Government Accountability Office. He has an outstanding professional record, and honorary doctorates from several universities. Here's his Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_M._Walker_(U.S._Comptroller_General)
He has given multiple interviews explaining how the US is bankrupt, and how agencies and politicians neglect to mention this fact. International bankers are also aware of this, and a lot of people outside the US don't doubt this fact, but Americans typically acquire a very distorted picture of how their economy actually runs.
Unless there's a radical policy change like the one Ron Paul advocates, it's a matter of time until the US economy collapses. It may take a month, a year or even more. The longer it takes, the worse the crash will be. It won't be a correction or a mild recession. It will be the crash that destroys American purchasing power as we know it.
I agree with you that people don't tolerate rapid change. Most don't understand what's at stake, and also want submit to a welfare state. Ron Paul understands this, and for the last 30 years he's worked to educate people and talk about this message of financial discipline, civil liberties and upholding the constitution. He was reluctant to run again for president, because he was afraid that the nation wasn't ready.
Ron Paul's supporters are fervorous because they're desperately trying to change the United States' course before it's too late. I applaud their efforts, and I hope they succeed to get him elected. But even if they don't, they will have educated millions of people in the process, and this gives me hope that Americans will be able to pull themselves up from financial disaster, and resist the fascist ideologies that will undoubtly flourish.
Just why the fuck do your presidential elections have to take 2 fucking years from start to finish?
Just a thought
Just why the fuck do your presidential elections have to take 2 fucking years from start to finish?
Probably so by the time the election comes around most people are sick and tired from it and won't bother to stay informed or even to vote.
