Angry Guy on Hell's Kitchen Wants to Fight Part 2

Well, looks like Joseph got the job after all.

And for the record I personally wouldn't want him to work in my kitchen.

Hehe...

I do believe that TV makes people act far more stupid than they would under normal circumstances... Alas, I doubt his career will benefit from this silliness as much as he thinks it will...

Wah?

As in he was removed from the show... how is that getting the job?

I don't get it. I'm confused.

And no, I can't see how anyone would want him in their kitchen.

Classic projection.. he feels he's being treated like a "little bitch" so he starts calling GR a bitch, and talking down to everyone around him.. trying to make himself not seem like one.. well, he *failed.

One of the things I'll happily grant the atheists in the crowd: once we've outpaced the vestiges of our societal Judeo-Christian imprinting it'll be quite easy to justify "disappearing" imbeciles like this guy for the betterment of all mankind.

"I'm not no bitch."

What did Jaime Escalante teach us all? "A negative times a negative is a positive! Again. A negative times a negative is a positive!"

Me thinks he should have focused more on his math classes, instead of taking Home Ec.

lmao thats ace. GR was the one that decided to fly off the handle for the cameras... Then when the guy takes it right to his face, he trys to drop the pretence and try to make out like the other guy started it.

so what have we learnt ?
Dont act the prick to people by giving them a question, and when their answer dosent answer your question how you wanted, rejecting it. Its a total lack of respect. GR expects respect from these people, without returning any, if he had said "ok, i understand you dont want to embarress these people, but i need you to tell me, even if in private, so we know where everyone stands" this would never have happened. Prehaps someone who cant slag someone off in front of others and put others down isn't the best chef, but that dosent make them a bad person.

The overall effect is the kid chef is made to look like a tool, but GR looks like a twat in this saga to me also.

sirex, I think you have to understand a little better about what it means to be a chef. The chef is ultimately responsible for every fuck up in the kitchen. A good chef respects hard, intelligent work, and absolute loyalty and respect. In return that chef will be not just your boss, but your mentor, ally, resource, teacher and friend. A good chef (and ramsey is the best) will work twice as hard as his staff, move heaven and earth to make a restaurant happen, to make GOOD food happen, and to make the customers happy.

But if you let up. If you act stupid, disrespectful, or somehow endanger the smooth operation that he has put his heart and soul into, woe be unto you. If your heart isn't in your job, if you are not honestly giving your best, a good chef will correct you. And those lessons will be harsh, and few. If you don't get it soon, you're out the door.

You need to understand, GR isn't being a prick for laughs. He's trying to create the perfection that makes him one of the best chefs in the world. He expects exceptional effort, and exceptional results. People who aren't in food service can not understand this. Obviously, mr angry guy in the video couldn't understand it either. I hope he has fun working at Denny's, or Bennigan's, or whatever other greasy spoon he goes back to.

sirex, I assume you don't even watch the program? If you did, you'd surely know that near enough every 'eviction' process, from season 1, has been the exact same.

Everyone who watches the program knows the process, every contestant on the program knows it aswell. And Joseph knew aswell.

The only difference between this 'eviction' and previous ones, was that the teams had to each decide, together, who they were nominating, so it wasn't exactly like the people who were gonna be named, didn't know already. Red team named their two easy enough, and all Joseph had to do, was give the 2 prearranged names, and a reason for each one. Simple request, but he chose to be an ass about it.

ETA: Somehow called Joseph, Jason in my original post. Corrected now

making being a prick part of a known process dosent mean you're not being asked to be a prick. I just don't see how either of them came out of that well. You cant use confrontation against all people, and a decent manager of people knows that, surely.

That said, if jason decided to join a program like that, prehaps he should have allowed that his personality wasnt going to fit into the type of person they were looking for, but it dosent make him less of a decent person. Granted, given the type of work he wants to go into maybe being a chef isnt for him, but (from that clip) they've dressed this drama up as if its something other than a personality clash.

Bottom line, i'd have alot more respect for GR if he used the other side of his personality sometimes when dealing with people who have the same confrontational streak as he does.

Welcome to Not-Getting-Itsville. Meet our mayor, Sirex.

The show is not about Gordon managing these people. It's about him eliminating them one-by-one. Joseph is not a "stand-up guy" -- he's schizophrenic if he has any excuse. More likely he's just kinda dumb and either can't control himself or thought he could manipulate the situation to make a big name for himself as "that hotheaded guy from Hell's Kitchen".

I personally get completely infuriated with anyone who refuses to answer the question that's being asked. With me I'm usually asking a yes or no question. That's all I want, a "yes" or a "no", but people have to go on all fucking day with the reasoning for the yes or the no.... meanwhile my life is ending one minute at a time over here.

sirexsays...

i fully understand the premise of the show is staged confrontational moments, much like most popular (and ultimatly trashy) current TV shows are. I'm just trying to say that some people will react badly to such techniques, as documented in the above video.

That said, of course the kid had hoped to make a name for himself, but once backed into a corner there was always going to only be one outcome.

Asking for a yes or no is ok. Asking for someone to belittle someone else is asking for them to be a prick. To be fair to GR, the guy should have said the names first time, then stopped at "im not willing to belittle these people" and left the show when GR decided to try the meat-head school of diplomacy.

There were many, many, better ways to deal with the situation from both sides. Sad thing is, it documents how badly things can go when both sides feel threatened. GR is highly aware that the situation has gone awol and the cameras are still running, what i'd like to have known is what would have happened if they switched the cameras off and GR was given the chance to act in a non hot-headed "good tv ratings" way.
